I bought my 10/22 about 20 years ago, laminate stock, SS barrell. I bought a Simmons 4x32 scope for less than fifty bucks, and it has been more than adequate for the 22. That was 20 years ago, but I'm sure you can still get a 4x32 for less than fifty bucks. My Ruger was only $108 when I bought it ...
