Re: CJ Grisham is at it again

Also while this spectacle was going on the East Side of the Courthouse behind the scenes the Chief Deputy contacted TCOLE and they said he is NOT qualified as what a retired (LEO) LEOSA is. Thus he was denied entry with a firearm.

While I may not like him and may agree that he is not a retired ...

Re: 2025 TX Legislative Session

The bad part that a great majority of Texans should be angry about is the fact that the representatives of the government of Texas are trying to suppress speech they don't agree with or hurts their little feelings.

Well, if it helps to understand it, a big part of the problem is that people aren ...

Re: Armed civilians stopped more active shooters?

There is one other point to consider, especially as to why civilians are "significantly more effective than uniformed police at stopping potential mass shootings". The article does mention response time versus being on scene already, but it also needs to take into account that the motivation and ...

Re: Mean streets of Frisco, Texas. Stabber released from jail.

You can always claim self-defense, but that doesn't mean you will win. Penal Code section 9.31 says you can use force, but not deadly force in self-defense against the other person's use of force. If the story is correct that the other student pushed Karmelo first, he could have hit back or shoved ...

Re: Is the FBI backround check for a LTC different than the NICS when purchasing a firearm?

Thanks. Learned something new. It makes sense that the state does the check for the LTC, but I would think the search would include info from the federal level.

The Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) computers and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computers are programmed to work ...

What are your thoughts on this? Seizing guns of those Civilly Committed and then allowing the cops to determine whether to return the guns or pursue a legal ruling to keep them. They are calling it the Gun Violence Restraining Order.

Re: Minnesota Supreme Court Rules a vehicle on a Road is a Public Space!

By that logic, your house is a public place if it fronts on a street.

Hypothetical case: You are in your motor home. Let's say you park your RV in a post office parking lot (which is a public place). If you take a shower in your RV, are you committing public indecency by being nude in a public ...

Re: Minnesota Supreme Court Rules a vehicle on a Road is a Public Space!

I did not look at the videos or read the full ruling, but the logic seems clear to me that this is a correct decision.

Is a street a public place? In most cases, it would seem clear to me that it is (I know some streets are privately owned, but let's ignore them for a second). If I am walking down ...

There are many, many official state this or thats, but who can remember any more than a few? A few stand out the - Mockingbird, the Bluebonnet, the Armadillo; which is one of three official state animals. Who can name the other two off hand?

Interestingly, you named two (Mockingbird and Armadillo ...

Re: President Trump signs EO to protect gun ownership

The federal firearms act in its entirety.
The only constitutional part is probably the restriction against ownership by convicted felons, and states can legislate that on their own.

I disagree that the restricted person ban is constitutional either, especially not for non-felons.

But the ...

I’ve never really wanted anything full-auto, but a three round burst might be nice. I doubt I’ll see anything affordable in my lifetime.

I guess you don't agree with the old saying that happiness is belt-fed? I love full-auto for fun, but other than suppressive fire I would guess that the three ...

Any country that refuses to take back their citizens....strap a parachute on and drop them off over their home country.

I have a problem with this, a real problem. No, my problem is not concerning the deportation itself, just the methodology. Mexico refused to allow a planeload of deportees to ...

Re: FBI asks you to look for extremism at home

A peer-reviewed study of 24 top large language models published in PLOS One in July 2024 found almost all of them are biased toward the left on most political orientation tests.

Interestingly, the base models were found to be politically neutral, and the bias only becomes apparent after the models ...

Re: Truck Guns!

I carry a pistol and spare ammo on me almost everywhere I go. I have considered buying a long gun for my truck, but I am not yet convinced it is a good idea. I don't usually carry a long gun in my patrol car, though there I can see a reason for it.

You have to do a threat analysis of your own, with ...
