Re: DPS Website Change

Just looked at the site. Much better info given. Nice job DPS.

Didn't notice HTTPS on the log-in. :leaving

Even if no one else caught it, I understand your point.

For everyone else: this is not a secure connection. If you're typing in your "DL#, SSN# and DOB", you're sending it in the clear ...

Re: Unsatisfied with Gun Control, UK implements SWORD CONTROL

I read once that in New York City, more people are killed by being pushed from a window than with guns.

I wonder if that is the same for the UK?

Or maybe there, they don't die. The "recover" from their head injuries and go on to be politicians. :anamatedbanana

I lived in California for a couple of years. The "good cause" clause pretty much was interpreded as being a private detective, body gaurd, etc. from what I was told. But that was in Navato.

Re: Anyone heard of them?

 I wonder how they got your info? I was told that DPS doesnt release individual holders information, only giving demographics. Does DPS sell a mailing list?

They don't sell the list. It's illegal for them to do so. The only reason I know that is because I help run http://www.texasonline ...

....The downside to the locking cable concept is that a hefty bolt cutter can make short work of the cable, letting a thief remove the case itself and take his time later drilling out the lock.

The good news is that many car break-ins are smash-and-grabs. The thief is after stuff he can quickly ...

Re: capital area practical shooters club

I took my CHL class from them. It's a husband/wife (John and Julieanna Crowder) team out of Leander. They even served lunch at the class.

Unfortunately, I received and email from Julieanna stating that the first session had been cancelled because the deal with the gun range fell through.

I hope ...

Dude,
Do you have any idea how hard it is to clean 7-up form a monitor? Great story though! And to quote John Connor to the Terminator..."Are we learning yet?"

Glad it all turned out ok.

Off topic question, Were you ever in VRC-50 or are you just a fan of Japenese fighting dogs?

Not VRC-50 ...

I bought a little car safe that you can either hard mount inside your car or attach using an aircraft cable. I got mine from http://www.center-of-mass.com . They're fairly cheap.

Since I recieved my plastic, I really hadn't been carrying per se. My Sig goes in the glove box of my car in the morning and when I get to work, it goes in a little cable attached box I got from ...

Suggestions for carrying a Sig P-229R

The first part of this is the background...there really is a question at the bottom...really!

When I was in the military a long time ago (seems like 100 years or so now), I had to carry a weapon in plain close sometimes. We used shoulder rigs and jackets to carry the M9 and at times I would carry a ...

Re: What do you suggest for a "Chimp Gun"?

If you ever seen the way some of those chimps are treated, you'd be looking for suicide by cop to.

A friend of mine works at a "retirement home" for apes that have been used for medical experiments. A lot of them are not in good mental shape by the time these test labs get done with them, so you ...

Re: A true scenario

We had a guy in our class that said he had charges against him because he pulled a weapon on someone with a baseball bat in Austin.

The situation was supposedly an ex-boy friend showing up at their residence with a bat threatening them. It occurred in the front yard.

As the person with the bat ...
