In the world of computers this check should take no more then 2 hours on each application other then checking some counties that do not have enough manpower. I am of the opinion (and certainly I've have not seen the operation) that

What I suspect is that CHL's are very low on the priority list of management, hopefully I'm wrong but having done budgets
throughout my life I expect alloted hours for average Joe chl's is on the bottom.

That clears up some of the mystery for me,most tax records are available on line as are many county records but it would vary from county to county, I'm curious as to how they check county via phone to sheriff or written form letter which in its self could be weeks depending on how busy department ...

As a long time paper pusher I believe that most CHL applications "could" be processed in 2-3 hours now of course that
could extend if problems,most information is available on line with Law Enforcement agencies a call to FBI will clear
the average gun owner in 10 minutes, Perhaps someone could ...

I'm into 70 days now waiting on renewal, my question is how many clerks do they have, how many applications have they received in last 6 months,how low of a priority do they consider the CHL application and this is where I believe the problem exist, just an opinion after working 40+ years but I ...

Renewal mailed in Jan 20, 09, as of today 3/31/09 no license, called DPS and emailed, each time being processed, 70 days,
