Re: Changing from 10 hours to 4 hours

True that: I have a program that seems to work well. I have students come out to the range and I spend about an hour and a half with range safety and rules and then give them the Practical test. They can do this any day of the week. During this time I gather all the information I need to fill out ...

Re: Changing from 10 hours to 4 hours

Keep in mind that the proposed bill would only set the minimum to 4 hours. You'd still be able to go beyond that. There doesn't appear to be a maximum in the text of the bill.

You've got to be kidding! If you set up a class that is only 3 hours 59 minutes and 30 seconds, do you really think they ...

Re: 50 States Secede

Don't know if you have noticed or not, but if you read Article 4,5, and 6 of the U.S. Constitution (not just the amendments), it appears that several States have already Seceded. Illinois, California, New York, and New Jersey (To name a few) have already written off the Constitution as a "Set of ...

Changing from 10 hours to 4 hours

Anyone have a problem with changing the program to 4 hours? There is a proposal that is suggesting that (HB-47 of 2012). I can see that the information in the classroom program should be shortened to 4 hours, but the "Handgun Use" and "Firearms Safety" part really needs to be more. We will become ...

Re: Unusual Instructors

... It seemed a little out of place for someone coming from San Antonio to fish in Corpus to be wearing an instructor shirt not to mention long pants. It isn't exactly cool down here yet. :coolgleamA:

It might scare the fish away if they get a flash of my pasty white legs! "rlol" That's why I ...

Re: Range qualifying cards

I do keep records of my NRA classes and some other coaching classes, but I don't keep the CHL scores.

Interesting though... has anyone else been through this... I was called in to the DPS office in Mt. Pleasant, TX and asked about my records. The officer asked about my CHL class but did not ask for ...

Re: Unusual Instructors

As some of you know, I am a full time fishing guide as well as a CHL Instructor. I have met various instructors over the years, some real normal ones and some unusual ones. I met another "unusual" one yesterday, he was aclient on another guide's boat. I don't recall his name and wouldn't mention it ...

Re: Unusual Instructors

Well, I have seen a few "unusual instructors" myself. In fact, some would say that I am a bit unusual... especially the gun-bigots that hate when I say, "You can actually use a Kel-Tec for a Concealed Handgun." That gets a lot of instructors hopping mad.

What bothers me is that DPS does not spend ...

it means "in before the lock" there have been quite a few threads about legal services, this looks like your first post and throwing an advertisement as a firs post is kinda frowned upon here, specially when you start a new thread to cover a thread that is already in existance

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?

Please post the details of any city or other governmental entity or agency that is posting 30.06 signs where they are not warranted by Texas statute. I am particularly interested in the posting of a 30.06 sign where only a portion of a building is being used for an activity that is statutorily off ...

Re: Having a Lawyer on Speed-Dial

I once had a program that was referred to as a "prepaid legal". When I needed it the most, it failed me miserably.
I've been given that sales pitch and resisted. Is your story one you can share?

The PrePaid Legal story: I had to go through a child custody issue. I had sole custody of all my (4 ...

Wasn't sure I could put it on the site. I have been punished severely for putting that information on other sites. I am not trying to sell the group (Though I actually do sell the group) but pointing out that they actually provide a great service for the cost.

Having a Lawyer on Speed-Dial

I have been looking at the legal groups that provide legal support for the CHL and legal gun owners. I once had a program that was referred to as a "prepaid legal". When I needed it the most, it failed me miserably. I lost 'big time' with that group. However, the groups that offer legal protection ...
