Would the driver have to recite the 30.06 verbatim? OR just say no guns?
just has to say "no guns" when it's verbal.
Does the driver have the authority to issue a legally-binding verbal notice? Penal Code 30.06 says, "a person receives notice if the owner of the property or someone with apparent ...

According to an acquaintance of mine, Greyhound occasionally performs a "voluntary search", where passengers have a choice of submitting to a search or not boarding the bus.
This may foil my plans of carrying a concealed firearm on my trip next week. Does anyone know how frequent these searches are ...

Ideally an Employer would furnish a locker for employees to store personal property in while at work (yes even in a school). That would be a help to all Employees using mass transit to get to work.
That would be great, but wouldn't that still be a violation of the Texas (not to mention the federal ...

Re: Student teaching
I won't know for certain until January, but on my application I put down Berkner High School as my top choice. I don't recall what my second choice is. My third choice is JJ Pearce.fizteach wrote:What school are you going to?

How to ride to/from a high school with a handgun?
Soon I will be doing 12 weeks of student teaching at a Richardson ISD high school. I have a CHL. I intend to take the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (our bus and rail mass transit system) to and from the school to which I am assigned.
I would love to be able to carry on the ride to and from the school ...

In the first place, an act is illegal only if the statutes prohibit it.
There is a statute that prohibits one from "[displaying] a firearm or other deadly weapon in a public place in a manner calculated to alarm," and that is Penal Code 42.01. Of course, it could easily be argued that if a dog is ...

State statutes dealing with defense from dogs?
Hi, all;
I am trying to find some Texas statutes that discuss when it is legal to defend oneself -- and how -- from an attack by a dog.
So far I've found two somewhat, but not entirely, relevant statutes:
Penal Code -- sections 9.31 through 9.34, which deal with self-defense, but the law reads ...

Hi, all. My understanding is that carrying a weapon lowers the legal BAC threshold to 0.02. Go go http://www.legislature.mi.gov/documents/1999-2000/billanalysis/House/htm/1999-HLA-4530-B.htm and search the page for "Alcohol restrictions on license holders". I have not found this in current law, nor ...

59 (or so) real days, and I'm out
Late December: I apply online; the DPS mails me out a packet with blank forms and PIN.
January 10: I send the packet to the DPS via certified mail
January 11: USPS indicates that the packet has been delivered; DPS still shows "packet mailed to applicant"
February 11: DPS still shows "packet ...

DustinB, thanks. This is what I will do in December.
I tried this in August, but I had to return to school before the documents were ready, so now I have to re-request them.
I really wish I did not have to include these copies, since the DPS has access to this information anyway. What is the point ...
