Public Safety Advisory
The New Braunfels Police Department is issuing a Public Safety Advisory following two recent Aggravated Kidnapping attempts.
In both instances the victims reported that a male flagged them down, entered the vehicle, displayed a firearm, and instructed the driver to continue driving. The male suspect is described as a thin, older, white male who was clean shaven and wearing a red hoodie.
Investigators with the New Braunfels Police Department continue to investigate these reports and are warning drivers to avoid stopping for anyone they don’t know, especially those matching this description. NBPD also advises residents to be aware of their surroundings, especially in parking lots, and to try to park near your destination in a well-lit area.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to call New Braunfels Police or Comal County Crime Stoppers. Comal County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2000 for information that leads to an arrest and/or grand jury indictment. To remain anonymous and to collect the reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 830-620-TIPS (8477), leave a tip online at http://comalcrimestoppers.org/, or text a tip by texting “Comal” plus your message to CRIMES (274637). Dogoone you JALLEN, I was going to post this with a much snazzier title: "WANTED: LIMPING DUDE IN RED HOODIE"
According to press articles, the guy wears a black bandana or head scarf in addition to the red hoodie (or maybe jacket). One of his victims was a man, the other a woman who Red Hoodie wanted to drive him to Houston. Instead she drove around a looking for a way to escape, and when he caught on, she stabbed him in the left leg, bailed out of her car, and ran to a nearby bar to call for help. Red Hoodie also bailed and ran away into a field. Police searched on foot and by helicopter, but didn't find him yet.

Interestingly when I googled on "New Braunfels Red Hoodie" to see if there were any updates, I came up with a couple historical items:
Pizza delivery woman assaulted in carjacking
This was a carjacking in New Braunfels in December that also involved a red hoodie.
And another! http://www.jsonline.com/news/crime/2-te ... 97921.html
But this one was in Milwaukee.
Watch for red hoodies I guess, especially if they are trying to wave you down and steal your car.
This is of special interest to me, since New Braunfels is not that far away.

When I was growing up in NB a long, long time ago, we were led to believe Seguin was a long way from NB!ELB wrote:Dogoone you JALLEN, I was going to post this with a much snazzier title: "WANTED: LIMPING DUDE IN RED HOODIE"

Things have changed in NB. When I was a kid, the only crime, apart from the usual political games, was a couple of crooks who drove over from San Antonio to rob the liquor store, after which they escaped, and all 3 police cars were ruined in the chase.
That was before the auslanders moved in.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
