IPSC or IDPA in Bryan/College Station

Post by FightinAggieCHL »

Howdy, is anyone here active in IPSC or IDPA in the Bryan/College Station Area? I was planning on shooting my first IPSC match this past Sunday, but it got rained out. It's alright tho, that gives me a bit more time to practice my draw and reload. I'd even be willing to travel out to Houston if I needed to to get some good shooting in. Also, is anyone here involved with IPSC or IDPA in San Antonio? I'm going back home for December, and I was kinda lookin for a match in mid-December some time. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Also, is there any inherent difference between IPSC and IDPA? I scanned this forum real quick, so I may have missed the topic that this was mentioned in, so don't flame me down!

There is quite a bit of difference between the two shooting games. I don't like typing nearly enough to go through it here. Basically IDPA is for the fun and CHL shooters and IPSC is for the fun and speed.

Thunder Tactical Shooters is on the north side of Houston up by Conroe if you want to drive to this area. Matches on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM and on the second Saturday of the month at 9:00 AM. Come at least 30 minutes early for sign-in and safety briefing.

West Houston IDPA shoots at the Impact Zone, a private range between Hempstead and Brookshire.

We shoot Wed nights, starting at 6pm and shoot usually until 8pm
We also shoot a bigger Sat match the first Sat of each month starting at 9am and usually shoot until around noon.
We also shoot a three gun (carbine/shotgun/pistol) match the second Sat of the month.

Impact zone IDPA shoots a match the 3rd Sunday of each month there also. Start at noon.

Thanks. I don't think I'd be able to make any of the Wednesday matches. I have Math tutoring and stuff from 9 until Late. I'm interested in the weekend ones though... I'll check more into this stuff.

We are having our end of year party after this match, so it will be a shorter than usual match as far as round count, etc.

Prob. 25-50 rounds with 5-6 scenarios.

This is more typical of our Wed night match. Our Sat match is usually slightly more scenarios and a round count of 100 or more scored rounds.

I am looking forward to meeting both of you.

Look me up, I will be the one giving the new shooter briefing <G>
