Was a prototype, probably not for sale yet. if ever.

Should I ever acquire something like that, and I seem to recall someone made something similar many moons ago, I would have to name it Megatron and it would need a short sound bite every time it deployed.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

hypothetical question .... IF that prototype was available for purchase and IF there was a semi-auto only version available ... would it be "legal" to carry with a Texas CHL? Seems to me, because of the "stock" this becomes an illegal "short-barrel rifle" ... correct?
Also - too tired to look it up - but I believe a CHL ONLY allows you to carry a concealed HANDGUN. Even if you can conceal a legal length rifle or shotgun, carrying it concealed would still be illegal even with a CHL ..... correct?

You can carry a rifle or shotgun without a CHL. You are correct CHL is Concealed Handgun.

Right, you can CARRY rifle or shotgun with or without a CHL. But you cannot legally CONCEALED CARRY either (if that's possible) under any circumstances.
So in the configuration shown on this video, even if this gun were legal in every other way - semi-auto, 16-inch barrel, etc - the moment you fold it up Transformers style it thus becomes CONCEALED (an average person would not KNOW it is a gun) and is thus illegal under Texas law because it is a concealed long gun. Correct??

UCW covers the carrying of weapons. It prohibits the carrying of a handgun, unless it is concealed and the carrier is licensed. It does not mention the carrying of a long gun, either concealed or open, IIRC. There is no separate offense for carrying a "concealed weapon." It's all just Unlawfull Carry of a Weapon.
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
As Barres mentioned there is nothing in the penal code regarding the open or concealed carry of a long gun. You are less likely to be charged with an offense if you carry it concealed as it makes it more difficult for someone to report you for Disorderly Conduct.

I just hope there's not a CHL instructor out there teaching imaginary laws in class.
While people may spread that kind of false information, I would bet they almost invariably start from the boob-tube and/or movies. We all know how factual everything on TV/movies is.

Not sure how accurate this is, but I've seen it before and thought it was kinda cool how having a CHL theoretically makes long gun carry in places like liquor stores: http://www.txchia.org/nftxcary.htm
Not saying I'd want to test this theory.
