Turn around Times.

Post by Dbrn »

I have 2 friends who live in Longview. Greg co. They both sent there packets to dps in June and they have had there plastic for over a week now. So why is there such a difference in times? Is it the BG Checks? I am happy for both of them. But this does not make any sense. Dan

I believe it is the BG checks. Some counties have 1 person who does the BG checks and that also isn't their "full time" assignment. A LEO friend of mine has said that in her opinion the real issue with the current CHL wait times falls squarely on the counties and not the DPS as they can't make the counties complete the checks any faster.

i agree with mike_g26 .

the most populated counties seem to have the longest wait times .
if you follow peoples time lines ,
the ones who have the shortest wait live in smaller counties for the most part .

The DPS is waiting on the DPS Officers in certain counties, in DPS offices, yes.

It's DPS's problem. When they blame the county, they're just blaming Their Own offices, in that county.

For the most part, that's correct - in some cases, they are wading through their own paper piles to find the BG checks and assign them to the proper files.
In my case, they've been waiting on Brazoria and Galveston Counties to report in for over 3 months (so I've been told). Galveston County is still displaced to Texas City (still not really an excuse), but Brazoria shouldn't have an excuse. Waiting over a couple weeks for 2 minutes of work is rediculous. I would completely understand if each BG check took 20 or so minutes of work, but ...
Gee, I wonder if the supervisors who re-assign those who are suppose to be doing the BG checks could be arrested for contributing to breaking the law (I forget what it's called) - nice idea, but it ain't gonna happen.

The wait goes on ... :totap:
