Friend Scared off Thug

Post by Bennies »

Just talked with a friend last night. She was home alone getting ready for work when she saw a man trying to look through her stain glass window. So she grabs her gun and the phone to call 911. The man did not see her at first so she yelled and banged on something to get his attention. He jumped and then dove under the window ledge out of site. She said it made her nervous because she did not know where he went at that point.
With in minutes the 911 operator gave her a call back and told her police were arriving and to put her gun away (she mentioned she was armed). The police did not find anyone and she could not give a good description because of the stain glass. The police officer was happy she was armed and had a way to protect herself. :thumbs2:. I told her it probably would have been better not to scare the guy off as the police were almost there and might have caught him. But i understand she just wanted him gone and did not want him to attempt to make entry so she would be forced to shoot. :fire Anyways, good thing she is OK.

Trespassing on land and "peeping tom-ism" are class C misdemeanors. The cops could have busted the creep, but he would have been out of jail the next morning (unless he was one of those morons who goes around with illegal weapons and drugs in his pockets).

Hopefully he had to change his shorts and will stick to X-rated web sites now.

I hope she realizes he may come back. If he is a rapist interested in her in particular, he may not be deterred by her having seen him. He may just wait a while. I hope she has good perimeter security, situational awareness when outside, and carries even when home. A gun under the pillow is so much more comforting than one in the safe.

If you do this please find a cheap holster that fits your gun and sew to the inside of the pillow. Call it your gun pillow, but sleeping on top of an unprotected trigger freaks me out. I move alot when I sleep though... :anamatedbanana

Having him identified and positively linked to the incident would be helpful if he happened to get himself perforated during a repeat performance there or elsewhere later.

If criminals were smart, they wouldn't get caught so often. Watch any cop show and think about how many guys would have been sleeping in their own beds had they had the sense to leave the bag of weed at home.

From what i gathered talking with my friend is she feels maybe the guy just was going to break in and try to burglarize. Of course who knows what was going through the guys head. It sounded to me that he did not know she was in the house but then again who knows. She says she now carries her gun all over the house because she is understandably nervous. I did not know this, but she told my wife a man in her neighborhood shot an thief breaking into his car. I have no details on that though or if the thief actually was shot. This is why i do not live in Houston.

Not to worry, I use an uncle mikes clip that is oversized a little for my revolver so it sits well within it. The outside of the holster is just nappy enough that if I reach for the gun, the holster stays put and the gun comes out easily. I would never ever leave the trigger unprotected under my pillow like that. I have slept this way for a long time now and it is a quick secure way to have a gun handy. If you wake up to someone already upon you in your bed, you don't have time to sit up and reach for a bedside table. The perp has already looked there for your gun. A dear friend learned this first hand.

Do you think claymores around the perimeter in a suburban neighborhood would be overkill? :biggrinjester:
