LEO asked to leave coffee shop
Anyone see this? This is unbelievable. Maybe the police should get a statement from this business man that he doesn't want police in his store and then not show up for any calls to that store. I'm just stunned.

I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Re: LEO asked to leave coffee shop
It sounds like they're consistent, unlike the businesses who ban armed CHL
but allow armed LEO.

I hope every place that has a 30.06 sign gets robbed every day.

Metropolitan Oregon is a lot different from mainline Texas (think of Austin, TX with blonde hair and a yankee accent on the seashore). OTOH, the Oregon coast, the mountains and the Colombia River Gorge are gorgeous.C-dub wrote:Anyone see this? This is unbelievable. That said, the LEO may not have been a good fit for this particular coffee shop; in fact, it may have been to his benefit that he was asked to leave.
Re: LEO asked to leave coffee shop
Maybe the place is an Amsterdam model coffee shop and they were afraid that their real business would suffer.
I suspect that they might be watched just a little more closely, although maybe discretely.

If you go to their site, it is pretty much a communist coffee shop. Which makes it even more ironic since you would figure that police would fall into the "worker" category.

Businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone...including uniformed LEOs.
I would leave quietly and politely and chalk it up to the rights of business owners.

It started way back in the early 1960's and was called among other things, "The Civil Rights Movement". Perhaps you don't remember it, but it was about a whole lot of things, not the least of which was that shopowners could not decide who they were going to serve, or who rode where on the bus, or who could use which drinking fountain or toilet, etc., etc.gigag04 wrote:Businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone...
I believe the laws resulting from that 'movement' are still in effect?

Probably have lots of caffiene seekers sleepy after the Meth wears off ... makes their customers (and salespersons/dealers) nervous.

Business don't have a right to discriminate based race, creed religion or physical handicaps but they can indiscriminately discriminate for almost any other reason. Some places discriminate based on the clothing worn, There are night clubs that won't let ugly people in .. I know a few places that won't let people in wearing beards.. The civil rights movement had nothing to do with letting LEO into your place of business.Oldgringo wrote:It started way back in the early 1960's and was called among other things, "The Civil Rights Movement". Some businesses even prohibit licensed carry of concealed handguns.Liberty wrote:Business don't have a right to discriminate based race, creed religion or physical handicaps but they can indiscriminately discriminate for almost any other reason.
