Puppies

Post by Teamless »

A co-worker of mine is looking for a puppy that will end up being a big dog - like a Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, German Shepard, Great Pyranise, etc.

If you know of any in the Houston vicinity, please PM me.

They are looking at all of the local shelters as well.

Thanks

Search local shelters and BE PATIENT. Finding the right companion is always difficult, and sometimes easy.

Just be sure you know _why_ you want a big dog. Goldens and Labs aren't very awesome for protection dogs (unless you want the BG to be slobbered to death), but they're always great for keeping your spirits up.

Here's Ginger, demonstrating why Goldens are awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaAVZ2yXDBo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

:iagree: Indeed, my lab would definitely kiss them to death. Love the Ginger video! "rlol"

Texas Great Pyreneese Rescue has dogs in the Houston area.

Whatever he gets, please encourage your friend to get his dog from a shelter or rescue. Both of mine are rescues and are the greatest dogs.

:iagree: All my dogs have been rescues of one sort or another.

Labs and Goldens as stated above will invite the burglars in, feed them lunch and then take them to your valuables while wagging their tails all the time. "rlol" Gotta love 'em!

While all of my dogs are rescues as well, I disagree on the comments about Goldens. Our Golden is as freindly as they come, until you try to come into her yard or house. Then it's fight on.

She is also very protective of our family, almost too much so. Don't mess with the grand kids with her around. When my oldest was 6 she got into trouble by her dad at our house and he was going to spank her. Lucy (our Golden) had other ideas. She wouldn't let him get close to her.

Our neighbor who she has known for years came into (or started to) our back yard to get his grandsons ball that had been thrown over the fence. He didn't make it thru the gate.
