Photos for Renewals
DPS says that renewal students no longer need to submit photos or fingerprints. However, nearly ALL of our renewals from our last few classes have come back to us for photos after receiving a letter from DPS that their photos on file are not acceptable.
We are going back to taking photos for all renewals, just in case. It only cost us about 23 cents a photo - pretty cheap insurance.

Re: Photos for Renewals
I got that too on the prints for my last renewal.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

On the same general note - - - I'm thinking of providing an addressed stamped envelope for those who are using the online application process and renewals.
Photos, I know the size etc. what kind of photographs will DPS accept? If digital are OK I can provide photos I need details.

Re: Photos for Renewals
Yes, digital photos are fine.
They do have to be of good quality. We have taken pictures that looked better than the person's drivers license photo, and still had them rejected. We have learned that the camera has less to do with the quality than the printer. A good photo printer and good quality photo paper are the most important elements for success.

Guys, not an instructor here, but....
They're essentially saying that the photo and prints that they previously used to process the existing license are now somehow of unsatisfactory quality???????????

If you saw my photo you'd say it was of unsatisfactory quality! UGGGGGGLY!Mike1951 wrote:Guys, not an instructor here, but....

Maybe they have a new system that rejects pics like mine. (I hope so)

Re: Photos for Renewals
That is correct. So, the photo they accepted 5 years ago, and has been on your license all this time, is somehow no longer acceptable.Mike1951 wrote:Guys, not an instructor here, but....

Re: Photos for Renewals
Ive got the same thing also on photos.
Ive also seen on renewals as well as new apps , didnt the DPS change as of may 1st only one set of prints? Everything Ive been seeing form students have required 2 sets still, or did I misunderstand?

HP has a similar product which is also good. Kodak has one that is NOT so good. Had one, gave it away.

Re: Photos for Renewals
I gave it to one of my kiddos! It was fine for them, but wouldn't work for us. Too slow, and colors were just not right. So, you might say you were "white" on your application, but your photo said "martian"sjfcontrol wrote:Ummm, which (unliked) instructor did you give it away to?
