Welcome to the forum.

Disorderly conduct, Penal Code Section 42.01.

Simple assault can be class C but disqualify you because of family violence.
If anyone is raped, beaten or murdered on a college campus from this day forward
The senators who blocked SB 354 from being considered on 4/7/11 and
The members of the house calendar committee who haven't scheduled HB 750
Have the victims' blood on their hands.

IANAL, but I think any assault that would trigger the Lautenberg Amendment would be a class A misdemeanor or felony.

Class C assault is threats or simple touching with no violence or injury.

The punishment part of the assault section is one of the more tangled parts of the penal code:

Jim,

I am not 100% positive, but I do believe a class C assault when involving family violence can keep you from legally carrying a gun. There is some language on a citation that leads me to believe this. This is the same citation a traffic violator receives. I will take a look at it when I get a chance.
