I knew England was bad but...
I have never been to the UK.
This article is really disheartening.
I will be danged if I will ever give up my guns if any confiscation is ever attempted in this country.

Looks like it's time to buy stock in Easton and Louisville Slugger.

Sorry. It worked the first time.AndyC wrote:There are two paragraphs there and half a sentence - anybody know where we can read the whole thing without buying a subscription to the WSJ?
Search Joyce Malcolm, Wall Street Journal and I think you will find it.

Might want to wait and see if they outlaw baseball bats first... And then commission special bat-toting police officers with "Batman" badges. ;)C-dub wrote:Looks like it's time to buy stock in Easton and Louisville Slugger.

Re: I knew England was bad but...
...in WWII, England feared invasion...and was, because of their idiotic gun laws, woefully underarmed...like always, the US stepped up, and organized a gun drive here...folks donated anything from a single barrelled shotgun to their fine trap and skeet guns, rifles, handguns, you name it...and thousands were shipped over and distributed to arm the British citizens...as soon as the war was over, they made a big to-do about rounding them all up, sailing them out to sea, and dumping them...they get what they deserve, no help from anyone...they made their bed...

It's doing the same thing to be this morning. It worked perfectly last night.
It must have something to do with getting there thru Google.

Banning guns doesn't eliminate criminal behavior, it just leaves those who aren't criminals defenseless when the criminals turn to other weapons --which is so obvious the result has to be a deliberate objective of the anti-gun crowd. I read the other day that there are 5,000 stabbings a year now in the UK, but in looking for other sources, it appears this number is way low:
http://www.insight-security.com/facts-k ... -stats.htm
As an example, based on one survey, a worst case projection indicates that 60,000 young people (predominantly male) may be stabbed and injured in the UK each year, whilst a rather more conservative estimate could be 22,000. The discrepancy in the two figures should not really be surprising as the figures were derived from the questioning of around 600 under 25 year olds, who were asked whether they had been knifed or stabbed, and then extrapolated to provide a "National Statistic" (Governments Offending, Crime and Justice Survey - OCJS).
And these stabbings all occur in spite of this (also an obvious result --that such laws are meaningless to the lawless):
"...the carrying of any knife other than a folding pocket knife with a blade length of less than 3" is illegal in the UK."
Look at some of the other statistics given, for instance: homicides more than tripled since 1965; 30% of pupils in London schools carry knives; 46% of 15-17 year olds carry knives for self-defense; and a 60% increase in recorded knife-carrying incidents in six years.
