After the incident with GZ vs TM, I was reconsidering to carry my wife Kimber's peperblaster or get a the version Kimber's peperblaster II.
We know from Texas law, simple physical assault alone does not justify the use of deadly force, only the threat of deadly force as force to instil fear in the aggressor to back off. I believe deploying Kimber's pepperblaster on the aggressor is more effective than drawing your EDC and escalating and this is considered only as force against force.

Problem with that logic is that Physical Force can quickly develop into Deadly Force by an attacker. Who's to say (and prepare for) a physical attacker is not going to start with getting you to the ground and then pull his knife to finish you off?
You want to put your life on the line in order to escalate in steps as you think is necessary?
If someone is physically attacking me I am pulling my gun if/when I can get to it. You're better served being alive and being judged by 12 if necessary.
Disparity of force comes into play as well to justify your shot. I am 64 years old and I am not going to fight with someone much younger and stronger than me. If he attacks me he is going to get the full force I can apply and that does not include incremental steps that may or may not work in the circumstance.
Also, with regard to the GZ vs TM thing.......
GZ was completely in the wrong to pursue TM. His job was to call the police and nothing else. They told him what not to do and he did it anyway. He provoked the outcome and the "Stand your Ground" law had NOTHING to do with it. His legal authority was to observe and report. Nothing more, unless he was in fear for his life in his patrol car. When he opened the door to began the pursuit is where he went wrong.

Re: EDC plus Kimber peperblaster II
I perceive any physical attack on me or mine as having deadly intent. VERY few exceptions to that. If I or a loved one wind up dead because of an attack all the, "I didn't mean to kill them" in the world won't bring them back. That said, we have a couple of the original Kimber pepper blasters (which are going to need replacement soon) and I think they're a great idea for those who may not be ready to carry a firearm.

I know there is 2-yrs life-shelf for PepperBlaster, but is that true? I believe the hot pepper would not decay or spoil. Our is certainly past 2yrs.Kabong30 wrote:I perceive any physical attack on me or mine as having deadly intent. VERY few exceptions to that. I'm not sure, I just know they have an expiration date and I'd hate to get caught out. Maybe shoot it at an omelet so you don't waste it?

Rotated accordingly and always ready to do the job!
But, have you not heard the stories of WWII 1911's found in duffel bags in attics and elsewhere with loaded mags that fired with no problems?

I don't know about the Kimber thing but in general pepper spray can be a useful tool. Also you can carry pepper spray and a tactical flashlight lots of places you can't carry a handgun, and you don't need a license in Texas.
