How many folks know of a church that has posts a 30.06 sign? Are any of them Catholic churches? I am Catholic and would probably be more than just a little surprised if there was one that had posted one.
I did as much research as I could because I had the situation where I was going to a Catholic church and would have my gun with me. According the Texas3006.com, there were no posted churchss in the DFW area, Catholic or otherwise.

I suspect that is not on purpose. I believe that few outside of the CHL community understand the changes that were made to TPC in 1997 which removed churches from the list of universally prohibited places unless they had the proper 30.06 sign. So it is probably a good thing not to bring up the subject.

I've taken a different approach with our church. I've asked about security. My main concern is that there is paid security or off duty LEOs that I don't know about and if an incident did happen and I drew my gun, I would become their target instead of the BG. If I'm able to confirm that there is no official security, I may ask more questions. There are some clear NRA members in the group so I suspect that there are some other CHLs, too.

Although I got the CHL packet in like 1995 ... I actually got my CHL in about 2008 at the insistence and pestering by Pastors and Deacons all across Texas in Primitive Baptist Churches ... glad I did. ... Now they want to ordain me as a deacon.... I shouldda seen it coming, the lasst relative of mine that refused to be ordained deacon ... later got ordained as an Elder, and has Pastored churches from Lockhart to Abilene since the 1950s or so, and preached Nationwide ...so I'm scared to refuse, may end up like him :smilelol5: .... I'm undecided, hiding and will give them an answer later this Summer... Trying Jonah's strategy for now, going to visit Lubbock church. Not unusual for people to trade ammo etc after dinner on the grounds.

Oh ... no 30.06 signs, even the ladies, grandmothers etc are armed ... church would be almost empty if someone stuck up a 30.06 sign

Fellowship Church in Grapevine is posted 30.06........but one of the reasons I would not attend there.

I'd guess there's some Lutheran churches out there that should be 51%.

My current church and my previous church were both CHL-friendly.

I know of a few church plants (startups) that meet in schools, so their members can't carry unless we get the law tweaked a little, and at least one that meets in a bar (which normally aren't used on Sunday mornings), so that one is probably 51% (or at least a gray area?).

seems like getting the law tweaked at least so that one "could carry when classes aren't in session" wouldn't be too difficult

picture the teacher up at the dark school at night working on her room, or picking up a folder for grading.

but then I'm a logical person.. :biggrinjester:

My observation as a preacher: About 25% of the preachers I know in Texas carry. For whatever reason, outside of texas most preachers/members I know seem to think that is anathema....with a few exceptions.

Most churches I know practice a "don't ask, don't tell" in regard to carrying. Very few signs, but if anyone were to ask officially in a business meeting if it was ok to carry, would likely be that one would have an objection, and others would say "well if anyone is against it, don't carry." Simply based on how church business meetings typically go anyway. (you don't ask in non-posted stores...why do people ask in church business meetings??)

To my ~knowledge~ the United Methodist are the only denominations who have made an official stance against it... though I doubt most local UMC's care what overseeing bodies say on it. One of the board also wrote it is a Christian woman's duty to submit to her rapist... and I know most would not agree with that.

For that matter.... if a church is posted 30.06, I can't see most leadership turning in one of their members for it. Visitor maybe, but not member. Many would see it akin to "taking brother to law" Paul wrote about.

I travel preaching for churches from coast to coast throughout the year and have to deal with the state reciprocity in regards to church carry regularly. Some states you are supposed to ask, others states don't allow it. Others I could open carry in the pulpit if I wanted to. Frankly, were I told/asked not to carry...I'm not sure what my response would be. Although I am known as the Pistol Packin Preacher, so probably most would not ask me to come if they did have such a problem.
