A Simple Lesson
A rat looked through a crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife opening a package. What food might it contain? He was aghast to discover that it was a rat trap. Retreating to the farmyard the rat proclaimed the warning; "There is a rat trap in the house, a rat trap in the house!"
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Excuse me, Mr. Rat, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."
The rat turned to the pig and told him, "There is a rat trap in the house, a rat trap in the house!"
"I am so very sorry Mr. Rat," sympathized the pig, "but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured that you are in my prayers."
The rat turned to the cow. She said, "Like wow, Mr. Rat. A rat trap. It does not concern me, I am in no danger!"
So the rat returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's rat trap alone. That very night a sound was heard throughout the house, like the sound of a rat trap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught.
In the darkness, she did not see that it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital.
She returned home with a fever. Now everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient. His wife's sickness continued so that friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them the farmer butchered the pig.
The farmer's wife did not get well. She died, and so many people came for her funeral that the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide meat for all of them to eat.
So the next time you hear that someone is facing a problem and think that it does not concern you, remember that when there is a rat trap in the house, the whole farmyard is at risk.
This is the lesson that all the lefty commies who believe, voted for and continue to support all the bad things our government is doing and trying to do will learn. Unfortunately, it will be too late when they do. They will say, this is not what I wanted, this is not supposed to affect me but only those evil rich gun toting religion clinging redneck constitutionalist types.
They will lament," I'm a progressive, I drank the Kool-Aid, I'm supposed to get free stuff from the government, Barack Obama is supposed to pay my bills personally, the world is suppose to be full of rainbow's and unicorns sprinkled with magic fairy dust."
They will say this as more jobs are lost, homes repossed, healthcare is diminished, economy it the toilet, national debt so large that we lose our status as as economic power and our currency no longer the world standard, crime rampant in the streets and our quality of life diminished to that of a 3rd world police state as our rights are stripped and our action monitored and controlled. I hope they will realize their wrongheaded thinking and what "useful idiots" they have been.
What is happening now affects us all, if not today, then tommorrow.
Beware, there is a rat trap in the house.

Beware of the Rat Trap
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.

Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Re: Beware of the Rat Trap
A fresh take (I've not heard that one before) on this one...
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
I am not a lawyer. This is NOT legal advice.!
