Re: Fort Hood Police Shoot, Kill Soldier Parked At Post Lake
very sad... I wonder if the autopsy will reveal he shot himself vs. firing at them.

Isn't it illegal for a soldier to have a gun in his/her possession at Ft. Hood. If so, is this another example of gun band don't work?
It may be another example of a guy(s) with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun.
I also wonder if he shot himself. Nonetheless, the officers did the right thing if he fired a shot.

Kind of, no, well maybe.mojo84 wrote:Isn't it illegal for a soldier to have a gun in his/her possession at Ft. Hood.
There is no regulation the forbids the possession of a firearm on post (or federal property)
But there are restrictions on where you can have a loaded one. Must be a lawful use on base, such as hunting or at the range.
So were the rule for legal use or possession of a loaded firearm followed on post? No, not in this case.

No, I don't think that's _quite_ right. The Base/Post commander can ban the possession of personal firearms on post.E.Marquez wrote: There is no regulation the forbids the possession of a firearm on post (or federal property)
I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

.. Well you can guess, Or you can take what I know is correct, or you can look up the post policy .OldCannon wrote:No, I don't think that's _quite_ right. Im not guessing by the way.

The question was

And I answered it correctly, with fact based understanding of the Fort Hood Post and III CORPS CDR Policy's..
Now if you want to CHANGE the question to "can a post commander write a post policy that bans the possession of personal weapons.." The answer is the same as Can a LEO arrest you for it being Thursday Yes they can,, will that action stand.. NO it will not....(BTW, one commander tried it, and failed)

I stand corrected. I thought they banned possession of personal weapons after the shooting and they had to be stored in the armory. Thanks for the info E. M.
