The above links are all related to the same crime: In rural Marshville, NC a 25 year old home invader wearing a
mask and carrying a small pistol made an error in the victim selection process.
He decided to invade a rural home with a very long driveway in from the road. He probably thought that a lack
of close neighbors would help him in his crime. WRONG.
The homeowners had a loaded shotgun handy, shot him in the chest, and he died on their front lawn.
There was no further ID on the gauge of the shotgun, or if multiple rounds were fired.

Another rotten apple expunged from the barrel
.
I couldn't help but compare that situation to our property. Our driveway is 600' long and the closest house is 400' away - we're in rural ranch land. Our remoteness was one major reason why we decided to buy a handgun, then get CHLs, then more handguns, etc. It was a little spooky when we first moved in but now the wife and I are fairly proficient with all of the handguns and being armed and ready, I don't worry now.

I grew up in the same county near Waxhaw, NC.
It's all pretty much rural except for the county seat, Monroe.
There are about as many rifles, shotguns and pistols there as I've seen anywhere.
Poor target selection, indeed. Stupidity is more like it.
Well, actions have consequences and this home invader has met his.
Hope the folks in the home are OK.

Fortunately, criminals by and large are not too bright. I applaud when they make mistakes like this.surprise_i'm_armed wrote:http://www.wsoctv.com/videos/news/charg ... ing/v3crs/

Good for the criminal, he got exactly what he needed and the taxpayers don't have to feed him.
