I was at work and drove to what we call the MAB (Main Office Building) in the refinery where I worked. As I parked I saw a crowd through the glass in the conference room which had a TV. When I entered I was told what had transpired and began watching. This was just before the second plane struck. We all watched in horror as the second plane hit and most every one had already figured it out by then. As events unfurled we were concerned the Petro-Chem facilities along the Houston ship channel could be targets, including us as one of the largest refineries. We were also concerned about the South Texas Nuclear plant being a target.

I just got off work and was working in the yard. Wife came out and got me after the first plane hit. I'll never forget.

My GF and I went to donate blood in NJ, but the lines were already out of sight - I was very impressed with the thoughtfulness of Americans towards their own at that moment, but sadly hardly any blood or plasma turned out to be necessary.
Same here. I was on light duty and one of the 9-1-1 ladies came in and said, "A plane just hit the world trade center." I got up and went to the break room where the replayed the first hit with everyone standing around with their mouths hanging open. I took one look and said, "We're under attack, that was deliberate." Everybody started to jump on me and argue me down...until the second plane hit. I have never been so sick to my stomach at being right.
