Pick-up Golf Foursome

Post by Dadtodabone »

The weather was great, the course perfect, my regular golf foursome members not available! The "Pro" says "We'll put together a foursome, have a Coke."
I don't remember their real names. They'll live on in my memory as "Cargo Shorts" "Range Ball" and "Discount Clubs".
"Cargo Shorts" never had a drive longer than 75 yards, perhaps he should rethink the spike less Birkenstocks. Although, watching him slide on the grass into a bunker a time or three was amusing.
"Range Ball" hit it a ton, just couldn't find a fairway with radar guidance. The 20 year old Titleist balls he was using were cut up worse than a beginners jack o' lantern. Luckily I had some "Rocks" in my bag that I gifted him with. His distance went up a bit and he made some fairways, he'll probably play those until someone gives him something else in a few years.
"Discount Clubs" was fascinated with my somewhat dated set of Taylor Made clubs. Other than his putter, I don't think he used his beyond the first hole, I wouldn't let him touch my Rossa.

I was close to the "Dark Side" many times and had to double up on my BP meds.

I'm sure they have my name firmly imbedded in their memories also. "Crotchety Old Fart", " %&*@#$?< ", and "Snob Clothes" were mumbled a time or two as we made our jolly way along the links.

The moral of this story? Value your friends, they are a gift above price and make your life better and in ways you could never imagine!
