Charles, I am deeply sorry at the loss of your beloved pet.

I've been through that several times, and it never gets easier. It seems that the loss makes you work harder to love the next one even more, and when that one passes, the pain is just as bad if not worse.

The only consolation is looking forward to that joyful reunion at the Rainbow Bridge.

Sorry for your loss. I know this dog had the same outlook on life you gave it and I know you're a great American from the things I've read. Millie was a very lucky canine. Sadly, she will leave a big hole in your gut forever. Godspeed to you sir and Millie was lucky to have you, as your family was to have her.

If humanity felt about each other as some of us feel about our dogs this world would be an awesome place...

So sorry for your loss. I lost my Chocolate Lab, Bear, 7 years ago and still miss him.

It's comforting to know Millie was in good hands before she was in God's hands.

Dogs make us better people. My wife and I have had many German Shepherds over the last 25 years and the loss of every one leaves a hole in our heart that is never filled. They have a love for you no matter what and want nothing more in life than to please you. I feel your loss.

If people were as good as dogs then humanity would feel that way.

Charles, I am saddened by your loss of Millie. Your vet is a remarkable human being. It's hard to find any kind of doctor with that kind of heart these days.

I am sorry Charles. We are cat people but have owned a dog. One of our kitties was 18 when she started wasting, we were going on vacation and she wouldn't stay out of our laps while we were packing and getting ready. I told the family she was saying goodbye. My neighbor said she died the day after we left. She raised both my younger girls and had a good bit to do with my eldest. We have lost others over the years and we grieve like it was a family member. I know your heart is broken but are grateful to know she died in loving arms. That vet is a keeper.

Very sorry for your loss. Nothing we can say can really help you through this time, but know we're thinking about you and your wife. A long time pet, such as she was, truly becomes an integral member of the family.

I supposed the silver lining is that you a wonderful vet to see her through to the end. As you said, with that sort of dedication, he's a lover of animal first and businessman second. Since we've moved out of state, we're still trying to find that rare soul to take care of our own 15 year old kitty with some recent, as yet not fully diagnosed, ailments. It's not easy to find someone with such compassion.

I think I recall a Twilight Zone episode along these lines. I think I recall crying...but I was young and not tough like I am now.
