Seems to be quite a varrying degree of timelines for evereyone. Mine appears to be progressing fairly quickly:

Online App 7/8/2011
CHL Class 7/9/2011
Fingerprints 7/12/11
Docs Mailed 7/12/11
Rcvd/Processing App 7/18/11
Bkgnd complete and
"Manufacturing" status 7/22/11

Only 10 days since I mailed the packet to manufacturing....seems pretty quick, eh?

Just got plastic today! :woohoo :cheers2: :rock" Just a little excited!

As for the time frame, it was silly fast. 9 days after DPS signed received, it mailed. And of course it took 5 more days to get it! But 2 weeks to the day that they signed for my packet to get it in hand is pretty dog-gone fast!

My packet must have gone to the disgruntled DPS employee's desk... <heavy sigh>

Manuf Pending! :woohoo
Started 06/07/2011, was missing something in the packet, but all resolved now. And no cost to Mil members, Texas sure does treat us military guys well.
Update 9 August -- card mailed!
Update 20 August -- Figures, my card arrives when I'm away for a week! It now resides in my wallet!

Well, my on line status was updated today to "Background check under review". I have been seeing background checks taking any where from 4 days to 4 weeks... Is this dependant on what they see in you history? With a clean record should it return faster and one with questions take a bit longer? What gives?

There's no rhyme or reason.

It's more a question of how many counties or other states you lived in during the past five years. Whichever one takes the longest determines the entire processing time.

Harris used to be the proverbial pig in the python, but that situation has cleared up since 2009-ish.

If some problem turns up (like a person with your name and a criminal record), you get a letter, and the online status changes to something ominous.

Thanks Seamus, I live in Tarrant County and have been at the same address [abbreviated profanity deleted] 16 years. I have a 30 year old son who has bounced around but clean records on both of us so I hope we won't have a problem. I really feel like a kid waiting for Christmas..

Don't sweat it. One county and a clean record should slide through with no problems. It has been only a week with one state holiday in your case.

Well, its been 7 days now with no updates from DPS. My back ground check is still under review. Keeping the faith, and holding down the fort in the mean time.
