Does anyone run out to buy ammo based on what they see in this thread?

Just curious if this thread serves any practical purchase.

i don't . but , if someone said they just got back from Walmart @ 249 and Spring Cypress , and there was a stack
of .380 on the shelf , i would probably hop over there to get my share .

I don't either because the places people see ammo at is a lonngggggg way for me to drive, and they'd be out by the time I got there.  Besides, I have my own system I work that's served me very well.

. Oh yes! It serves a very good purpose! It lets everyone know the pulse beat of the ammo shortage....where certain calibers of ammo can be found & in what quantities. I'll wager this thread was created BECAUSE of the ammo shortage, and passing along seen ammo is just the friendly thing to do.

I passed along an ammo find back in July, and someone in my area went over there to get some.

Stopped by Walmart in Round Rock at lunch and found Remington 9mm in green/yellow boxes. They only had two boxes, a 50 round box of FMJ for 11.47 and 100 round box of JHP for 24.97, so I got them both.

I'm not familiar with this JHP, but I figured that at .25 a round, it sure beats boxes of 20 for $22 of most of the SD ammo out there. I don't think there's much sense in shooting JHPs at paper, but I'll save it for shooting at melons or something, I guess.

If the ammo is a caliber I need and available at a retailer near me, yes. It also is nice to see what is happening with ammo supplies/prices around the state. If ammo were plentiful and prices were reasonable, I probably would not run down and pick up ammo when I see it posted here. But I would still like to know how prices are stacking up against each other from retailer to retailer. Back in the good ole days...(LOL...a year ago)...this thread was good for knowing about a sale here and there. Not many sales specials get posted these days.

Actually, this thread has morphed from 'Ammo on Sale' to 'Ammo Spotted'. Its original function was to notify of hot deals on ammo. This was all before the big ammo shortage started.

Just to let DFW area folks know, I stopped at Bachman Gun at lunch today and couldn't beleive all the ammo on the shelf. Tons of 9mm and .45. The .45 was Remington 230gr. in a green/yellow box for $21.99. When they have it, Dick's in Cedar Hill has .45 for about $20.00/50

There was a fair selection of the other calibers, except for the elusive .380. When I asked about .380, the guy said "Good Luck." :txflag:

android, et al:
I'm very surprised that you found JHP's at Wal-Mart.
I didn't think they sold JHP's. In all the times that I have looked for ammo
at Wally's in my neck of the woods, FMJ's are all they every have.

smasraum:
Yes, I have picked up ammo that other forum members have been kind enough
to post. More eyes on the prize (9mm ammo in my case) means I can go to the range more often.

So I always try to repay the favor by posting what I see at stores around me in
Denton County. Even if I'm just running in for milk, I walk by the ammo counter
to see what's in.

Is their ammo on the left, in the "gun store" side or on the right in the Pawn shop. I have never noticed ammo in the "gun store". Thanks!

Yep, just got back. I don't know how I missed it before, probably because I was looking at guns. No CorBon ammo though sadly. :???:

It is nice to see Bachman's prices are getting reasonable, finally. I have paid more than I should have for .380 (when they had some) when I wanted to take the wife to the range. Gotta keep her happy! :txflag:

They're out of 230 gr, but sportsmans guide sells Corbon 200 gr jhp +p for $26.19

I was pleasantly surprised to find 4 boxes of .380 Blazer CCI @ $18.99 a box at Dick's Sporting Goods in Rockwall today. Bought all four; but the guy behind the counter said he was expecting more soon.
