Is there another link? I don't see any confession.
You are correct. The story said he turned himself in, not that he confessed. He may have been told of the warrant and volunteered to go in rather than risk the embarrassment of all the neighbors watching him get arrested.

Is it illegal to shoot your own dog? Assuming you are not torturing it and just putting it down, is it illegal to do so?

I know it is illegal to file a false police report.

In Texas, dogs are property. You can do what you like with your property in Texas, excluding treating your dog in a way that violates cruelty statues and/or local ordinances.

Before someone scolds me: I've worked with rescue groups for more than 10 years. I know what I know above from seeing a whole bunch of "owners" walk away from what should be some time in prison. I'm not talking about people who would shoot a suffering animal, I'm talking about people that cause the kind of suffering that would make you sick to your stomach.

no its not illegal to shoot your own dog, if you have a good reason to do so such as it is terminally ill, is vicious or something like that. Like everything else though you could be charged with some thing or another IE beat the rap but not the ride

Not planning on shooting my dog (I don't have a dog--cost too much $ right now), but was curious considering the charges he seems to be facing.
