who actually carries like that though.. nobody I know of. The people that I know that do carry weapons in their pockets carry subcompact or tiny two shooters in their pockets so its kinda a moot point if you ask me. The majority of people carry via belt or shoulder holster anyways. And those who don't carry in their pockets which would fall under concealed carry.

Ok I hate to revive this especially since I am a newbie. I personally carry a IWB Remora holster with 2 or 3 different guns. It is friction that holds it in the pants. There are no loops, retention devices that attach to the outside of the pants.

So let's say we are going somewhere that doesn't have the 30.06 sign but does have 30.07. We are tucked in before entering but upon seeing the sign pull the shirt out as to conceal the firearm.

My reading of the new law seems to point that it MUST be on a belt. We can fight about what on a belt means but the Remora would definately not qualify as on the belt. Therefore I would say a true belt holster is in need.

The good thing is now the statute Adds the actor cannot be arrested for the sole offense of possessing a handgun that he or she is licensed to carry, unless a police officer gives the actor the opportunity to leave the area and he or she does not immediately comply.

All the police I know don't care what type of holster it is open or concealed as long as the firearm is safely in the possession of the licensed individual HOWEVER if something were to happen that could be used as a point of contention.

I for one will most likely just switch to the belt holster and go that route and not worry about printing anymore. LOL.

That part in bold was for trying to carry into the secured portion of an airport... HB554

Looks like that holster (safariland?) is a paddle holster with additional loops for a belt (and it looks like the belt is holding it up).
However, the Serpa on page 11 (Automatic Restraint) definitely looks like the paddle only is being used (belt is not supporting the holster).
Good find!

That is a Safariland 7390, it has regular belt loops, no type of paddle whatsoever. The mount looks exactly like the one shown (a little better) on the last slide.

BTW, a 2.25" mount on a 1.75" belt cannot be discouraged enough (Look at the last slide). It will screw up our draw. Get the 2".

Slide 11 definitely shows it worn as a paddle holster for those that have had questions about paddle holsters.

edited to complete my thought. I probably should not have quoted AJSully as my comment wasn't directed at him specifically.

Oh, now I see, two different things. Slide 7 left side is the Safariland with belt loops. You are right, slide 11 is a Serpa paddle, then slide 13 is the same safariland mount as slide 7.

For me, the most useful thing was watching the town hall meeting recording from Houston with the Chief and a Judge. A guy holds up a drop leg and asks if it is legal. They both say yes, then the telling part. The Judge states that CHLers are the state's most law abiding adults, and that she would not bring someone in for something so trivial. Then the Chief says something to the effect of, "I would be embarrassed to call and ask the DA because someone was carrying a holster that is 6" below their belt."

For me, I will take me chances with wearing my Ranch drop leg in a restaurant or a gas station on the way to or from the ranch. I am convinced that I can talk a jury in Hood, Erath, or Comanche Counties to see my side of things if I ever go to court.

Some may take this as rude. I hope not. I am 67 years old and when i was 10 i got a Fanner 50 cap gun.
One of the high points is, it came with a holster. For 57 years i have known what a holster is, and
now it appears that knowledge is useless. A holster has been defined for decades. A holster worn
on a belt is a belt holster. That is what the law says, and is what i will do.Rant over......Just an old mans banter.

:iagree:

This is not rocket science. The Abilene PD Chief is OK withe the flip-flop holster. I specifically asked my city's Assistant Chief and officers about a paddle and IWB holster. The consensus in my neck of the woods is all of these holster will not attract police attention.

On 1/1/16, I'll use a belt slide holster with a strap unless a get a better retention holster before then. After that, it's IWB concealed at work, untuck after work, and OWB otherwise.

Jethro Bodine had a rope around his pants and tied in the front, that is still a belt. The Velcro around a leg is a belt. Just a thought, no has to agree.
