Another shooting in my neck of the woods. Fortunately, it sounds like the shooting was in self defense and the two robbers were the ones shot.
I guess the Craig's List face to face rule doesn't work any more.

Four people sitting in a car buying/selling cell phones sounds more like an extended crime than a CL trade.

Dude, I'm calling you out again. This one is in Dallas. Not Houston. Off Topic.

Sbrawley, I'm putting you on the same list as philips964. This was not a "horrific murder/robbery". This was self defense. Off Topic.

H-town has enough legit "horrific murder/robbery" without post padding.

Acronym: The first one WAS in Dallas, therefore you are correct that it is off topic.
However the one posted by Sbrawley was a robbery that was stopped on Highway 6 near Clay rd, which IS in Houston. The topic of this thread is murders and robberies.

While you may be correct in your criticism of the Dallas event, you are incorrect in your criticism of the robbery in Houston.

Guilty as charged, glad to see Houston's idiots are better shooters than the ones in Dallas.

Ha! I'll take that. Houston idiots might be a higher class of idiot than Dallas idiots. All in good fun. Eh eh.

Hmmm. Unlike the mainstream media, on this board the self defense is the story, not the robbery. On the other hand, robbery with shooting, injury, and death is quite horrific even when done in self defense. Fair point, Flightmare. I concede only that there is valid debate and therefore retract my addition of Sbrawley to my list. Eh eh.

Stabbing death of a man at a bar.

I recently read what seemed a fairly well researched blog about stabbings. I don't know if has been posted before. If not I can post a link.

It talks about statistics on stabbings and shows misconceptions regarding stabbings.

It talks about that 70% of the stabbings are not like most people are trained for: assailant leads with the knife.

Here the assailant came from behind and stabbed from behind. The blog shows that the knife fighter is not a fighter, but a killer. Hiding the knife and leading with an empty hand to grab and pull you closer and begin rapidly stabbing you repeatedly to kill you. Average 7 stabs in 5 seconds. Knife attacks are quick. If they last more than 10 seconds others can intervene.

So it's nothing like in the movies.

Prison style shanking is what that is... and it's effective no doubt.

This data is a few days old but gives you an idea. Our current Homicide rate pales in comparison to the the 80's. I'm only looking at
UCR data back to 1985 but homicides peaked at 608 in 1991. Total homicides in 2016 was 302.

Texas police seize 600 pounds of meth-laced lollipops
A concerned neighbor called police Monday to report that a house was being burglarized. When officers arrived on the scene they discovered a male and female removing the lollipops from the home, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.
600 pounds of ANYTHING is alot to try and steal.

Just another day in the big city.

In case your mugged here in Houston, these are the bad guys. No problem killing a one year old.

Man shot to death in a home invasion.

At least there is a little outrage over the 10 month old being murdered.

But here, not so much.
