Luckylar, Welcome!
Normally it takes about 2 weeks before DPS updates their website showing receipt of documents.
With a holiday in there, it could be slightly longer.
If you show (via USPS) that they received it, just trust that they haven't lost it and it will show up.

I spoke with DPS today about materials that I had mailed when you did.....No sign of receiving them on their web site. The gentleman I spoke to said that the packet had most likely been received, but, it takes about 3 weeks for the CHL people to recognize that fact. So, I said it has probably arrived in the DPS mail room but just has not made it all the way through the building yet. His response was "that's a very good analogy."
So, I guess I have a couple more weeks to wait before I see any status change.
Stay patient!

It is amazing how random things are. I sent mine the same day but sent overnight USPS. The DPS website started my background check on May 25th.

Next step! Three weeks after mailing,... they finally acknowledge they have it. Whew... Now, how long does it take?
By the way, when I read that people check their status daily, I thought 'that's just crazy'. But guess what I've been doing every day?

Hmmm... Three more weeks. Bummer. Tango Mike for the info Teamless.
In an unrelated story...
Back a few years and a few states ago, I went down to the police station in my hometown on my 21st birthday with my military ID. Walked out 45 minutes later with my first carry license. Did a photo, got finger printed, ran a background check, and laminated the license all in 45 minutes. The paperwork literally consisted of me filling out my name and SSN, and signing to acknowledge I was federally authorized to carry/own a firearm... that's it! 25 bucks (just to cover the processing of the card), six or eight years. No class. No silly fees (taxes). Ah, those were the days. For all of Pennsylvania's political shortcomings, they certainly got the carry license right (if you have to have a license to exercise a right in the first place).

Mine was 5/8/12 - 6/13/12, 36 days from start to finish once everything was done-- pretty good for a government agency, imo.

Guess I will join in the mix here and add my 2 cents worth as another example of how long this will take for future/current applicants. This is the list of unfolding events so far;
Online application: 5/30/12
CHL Class:..........6/2/12
Finger prints:.......6/4/12
Mailed regular post: 6/4/12
First change of online status,
to recieved/pending etc. 6/14/12
So we will wait and see what shakes out from here I will keep it updated till I get the plastic in hand.
May your wait be a short one.

Newbie here...
Mailed in the documents 6/18 via Express mail... USPS shows them as delivered today. I was told by my instructor that it takes about 6 weeks to get the piece of plastic in the mail, so that means end of July.
