Russia uses excess deaths to determine number of Coronavirus deaths. Rather than the US method of if you died and you tested positive you died of Coronavirus.

This article of course is saying that is not the right way to do it, since we want the highest numbers we can have to defeat Trump in the Fall no matter what we have to do.

But we have the highest number of deaths in the world and are still running between 2 and 3 percent below the average number of deaths for the year. They are artificially deflating their counts while we are artificially inflating ours.

Why do you look at raw data and not deaths per 100,000?

Actually at the end of the day, if you do what the Russians are doing excess deaths, your getting a pretty true picture.

What if suicides are up, car accidents are down with Coronavirus.
Excess deaths would automatically factor that in. Supposedly heart attacks are way up because people are afraid to go to the hospital. That is factored in as well. Russian method is showing it is far less deadly than the other way.

I used raw numbers because that was what the article above was complaining about. But the fact that we are still below average in deaths is true, whether you use raw numbers or rate per 100,000. It is also ignored by almost everyone. It is on the CDC web page if you search for it.

And as cold-hearted as it sounds, it means that almost all of these people who died from COVID-19 would be dead anyway. There are a few where someone else would have died instead, since some causes of death are down (such as traffic accidents), but not enough to account for all of the COVID-19 deaths.

That was my point at the end. We do not have any excess deaths, but are below average by 2% or so. My questions is which cause of death is down enough to account for a significant percentage of the COVID deaths.
