Thanks for the location (TN). This practice is called "lanesplitting". Legal in some
states. It is NOT legal in TN. (http://www.cyclefish.com/state_motorcyc ... tennessee/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
I personally would never do it. Many in CA do it on a regular basis. Even in CA there are rules
on when, where, speed etc lanesplitting is allowed.

Last I checked *3 months ago when i was there for a few days visiting brother and friends)
And for as long as there have been laws... in CA it is exactly the opposite,. there are NO laws on lane sharing, thus, it is legal..
As most understand.. they do not write laws to makes things legal.. they write laws to make things illegal, or define and restrict something.. As far as I know, in CA, there are NO LAWS that touch on late sharing... any rules you might find are non binding suggestions, guidance, like in a CA drivers handbook, and PSA notices.

Rules (or at least guidelines), yes. Laws, no. From CHPE.Marquez wrote:There are?gemini wrote: I personally would never do it. Many in CA do it on a regular basis. Even in CA there are rules

You and Rotten Apple are both correct. No Law. Just "suggestions". I think I read Ohio is considering allowingE.Marquez wrote:There are?gemini wrote: I personally would never do it. Many in CA do it on a regular basis. Even in CA there are rules

lanesplitting too.
edit: not Ohio either. I'll try to find the article for correct state.
edit: I should have said 'Guidelines" instead of "rules". (http://www.chp.ca.gov/programs/lanesplitguide.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Maybe the biker thought the same thing. Nobody has the right to run him off the road.carrydave wrote:Thing is though, I have the right to be on the road, or at the mall, or at the grocer. Hooligans DO NOT have the right to run me off. I can stand my ground.

This thread could go on forever. So before it does I'll put in my final 2¢.
1. Always check your mirrors twice
2. Always be a courteous driver
3. Treat others as you would have them treat you
4. You might have the right of way but on the road size does matter
A. Pedestrian vs. Car - Car wins
B. Car vs. Big Rig - Big Rig wins
C. Big Rig vs. Train - Train wins
D. Motorcycle always loses

Re: e-mail from student about road raging motorcyclist
I sold my bike in 2011 because I got married and decided to stop riding. I actually stopped riding a year before I got married because almost every day, I was close to being run off the road. The last incident was in 2010. I was turning left at the ElDorado light after exiting the Dallas Tollway heading north. There are 2 lanes for turning left and I was on the right one and a Frisco officer was on the left beside me. After we turned left and was heading west, the officer decides to switch to the far right lane almost running me over. I blasted my horn but he didn't hear it so I had to brake just to avoid being hit. I don't think he saw me or anything because I can see that he was looking at his computer. I only rode my bike twice in 2010 and that was the last time I rode. Since I used to ride, I always check my mirrors for bikers. I do get angry when I used to ride but never to the point of road rage.

Had a student/friend in a similar situation, pulled his gun - and was arrested. Eventually cleared but cost almost $3,000.

Well said, sir!
Extra points for digging up the symbol for 'cents'. How'd you do that, please? Been so long since I've seen it, it looks foreign.

My problem is I have no number pad on my current laptop. And no, it is not printed on the letter u,i,o,j,k,l and such where you have to turn it on. I have no num lock on this one. In that case, I just use the character map that comes with every version of Windows in recent years.
