Think about it, the government is fining the government. :headscratch

Different levels though, State collecting from City....collecting from us. So either way we lose.

Disagree on losing… it's our tax money moving from one entity to another. It's already been paid, but that movement of money would resolve the issue of the improper and now illegal signs on public land.

Wife wants to take a family trip to the zoo later this week. Does anyone know the status of 30.06 signs at the Houston Zoo?

It is in limbo until AG get off his duff. They are pulling the "We are an educational institution" junk... but at least the FW zoo went to the illogical extreme of getting a daycare license to back up their bull stuff.

Conceal and don't worry about it. I have carried a G21 concealed every time that I have been to the FW zoo.

How long will it take them to switch over to saying they are an amusement park?

They can't. They are only 55 Acres.

https://www.google.com/search?q=houston ... 8&oe=utf-8

That means they have to fall back on being a daycare or educational facility...

Went to the zoo today with the family. I couldnt even find the signs and didnt even see them until we left. I was looking for signs out front or on the ticket booths when we walked up. We went straight to the far left and went in without seeing anything posted. I thought it was really odd that we didnt see anything posted. On the way out we happened to go to the left and saw the signs on far wall. So its still posted but hard to find IMO.

I find the fact that the sign is not displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public to be a problem waiting to happen. In the event that a LTC holder is stopped, the LTC holder ends up debating the meaning of the phrase "conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public". The sign should be posted at the entrance gates clearly visible to all visitors before purchasing tickets so that an LTC holder can either not enter or choose to lock their firearm up in their vehicle.

Actually, it does not matter where they post sign that should not be posted. The signs are illegal no matter. IANAL

"conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public" is the operating term. If you can't see the sign when you normally walk in, it invalidates the posting. If you can't see it until you are leaving or have to hunt for it, it isn't a legal posting. Just like the Fort Worth Zoo's sign is a combination of 30.06 and .07. Not a legal sign. As far as I'm concerned, if they are going to pull a stunt by calling themselves an "amusement park" they should be held to the law and be required to post the sign in a conspicuous manner. They just don't want their pretty entrance cluttered by a sign.

The real operating issue is: "owned by a government entity, and not otherwise prohibited by 46.03 or 46.035". They could put up a billboard with the proper 30.06/7 wording in English & Spanish and it would still be invalid. They will be fined eventually.

Ft. Worth Zoo is NOT a school, an amusement park (too small), a place of execution, a parimutuel racetrack, a church, or a secure area of an airport...

They may even have a daycare license, but that is irrelevant.

Someday I'm gonna have to drive over there and open carry just to settle the point. Maybe Beruity will join me.

I wonder if they ever euthanize animals on premise? They may try to argue that they are a place of execution....
