How long has it been since the first cases in the US were diagnosed? Shouldn't they have recovered by now?

Excellent question. It looks like the first case reported in the US was the Chicago case reported here, and referenced on WHO sitreps, on 24 Jan. I find no reports of "recovered" though. Evidently Corona lasts a while.

If this isn't a real dataset, then one has to ask how it got up there and who created it.

An accidental (or malicious) distribution of the real numers seems much more likely than something so randomly higher (and consistent).

Also, Tencent manages a TON of the data for the government and is government run. It is very possible that they would have the real numbers.

Doctor who first sounded the alarm in China has died.

It’s now in India. That is bad because they do not have a great healthcare system, coupled with much freer society.

A healthy 34-years old doctor died in less than 3 weeks. Reportedly, he was infected in Jan 14, died today Feb 6. That is a very nasty Corona

These numbers are much more consistent with the projections made by infectious disease experts weeks ago. They also comport well with the anecdotal videos coming out of China that show multiple bodies stacked in hospitals and people dropping dead in the streets. It also would explain why China is locking down millions of people with draconian measures. They wouldn't do that for a few hundred deaths.

The Chinese consistently lie to cover up news that makes them look bad. This situation is no exception.

If the disease begins to spread here (and that is very likely because there were no controls in place during the first weeks) the only individual defense available is likely to be to plan to not to leave your property for any reason for 6 - 8 weeks as it burns its way through available hosts in your area. Those who wait to stock up on essentials will also likely find them not available when everyone else goes into a buying panic.

8 Americans have Coronavirus aboard that quarantine Princess cruise ship in Japan.

So did they have the disease when it was quarantined, or did they get it because they are locked up on a ship with diseased people.

If it’s the first then they would all be back here spreading it around.

I can’t imagine what it’s like on that ship right now.

I can’t imagine what it’s like on that ship right now.

Worst part is that the ship is a giant prison right now. All guest are confined to their cabins, no booze, no cigars, no fun.
Running out of things to read and clean clothes sounds like another problem.

Maybe a lot of babies in 9 months amoung the younger guests.
