Huh? :???: :???: What?   Where did that come from???????????

Did GZ or TM molest someone? Did this come from another thread? :confused5

This little side-foray talking about the accused father is not commentary on that particular case. Rather, it is commentary on the way the media report cases involving guns and/or self defense resulting in the death of an attacker. That is not only not peripheral to the Zimmerman/Martin affair, it is central to it. It is central exactly because the media are in the pockets of those who do not like the 2nd Amendment. Consequently it is nearly impossible to get a clear picture of what went on in the Zimmerman case.

So it actually is relevant to this thread.
It’s not just the Second Amendment. The mainstream media wants to control what people think about politics and everything else instead of publishing facts and information and letting people think.

A few newspaper owners could control public opinion since the invention of movable type and a few TV network owners could control public opinion since the invention of TV. They are losing much of that control now since the internet is so easily available.

Journalism has sunk so far into the gutter, I don’t think there is any place in the “profession” for someone with integrity. We will never see another Walter Cronkite or Edward R. Murrow.

Edited to add:
I think part of the problem is that now people want to be told what to believe. It’s easier than reading and now with mind numbing TV shows and video games, who has time to discuss things with others and think?

Yellow journalism is nothing new since the days of William Randolph Hearst but that the majority of media outlets would practice it should make him proud. What's ironic to me is that the media often riles against that which allows them to pervert the truth as they do; the constitution.

Do you not think that Walter Cronkite was manipulating public opinion? I'll keep my reference specific and to the point, as it is pretty well know. After the Tet Offensive, while it was costly and deadly to US forces in the RVN, was MUCH costlier to the Viet Cong, and in fact pretty much destroyed them in many areas. ONE HUNDRED trained VC were lost for each American loss, though I don't want to belittle anyone's losses as a numbers game, not in the least, just showing how badly the VC actually fared as a fighting force. But to Walter Cronkite, it was an excuse to tell the public that "It seems now more certain than ever, that the bloody experience of Vietnam is a stalemate" and that the war was "unwinnable." He helped turn a Communist MILITARY LOSS into a Communist POLITICAL VICTORY. And this was by far from the only liberally biased moment that he had...it was just the most blatant. He also helped to "expose" the Watergate scandal, going after the Republicans like an attack dog on the nightly news...just as now the press does the reverse on F&F, doing as little to cover it as possible and to block for Holder and Co. where possible. As was noted elsewhere in this thread, "yellow journalism" certainly did not start with today's mass media...but they have continued it right along, even through individuals such trusted individuals as Cronkite, to the obvious pro-left, pro-Democrat Party torrent it is today.

Well, 'ol George, bless his misguided heart, ain't the brightest bulb on the tree. He got themselves in this pickle by himself.

The rest of you caped crusader heroes might do better in a similar situation. Me, I'm gonna' stay inside and watch the "Simpsons". I can't abide "Dancin' with the Stars". That show violates my soft porn rule....

Even if that is true Mad Moderate--the who were they hiding it from is the question on those phones.....the other inmates perhaps. This couple has been threatened with death, has been forced from their home into hiding, their parents have been forced into hiding. They have had bounties put on their heads. They are under enormous pressure and stress and under great fear. They had lost their jobs and had no way to obtain income. The phone conversations are moot--they were not under oath at the time. What is of importance is the testimony under oath and the case against George is non-existant, and the charge of perjury against Shelly is thin, very thin (I don't know is a perfectly legitimate answer). Did they make a mistake by not getting O'mara the information on the account immediatly--yep, but as you say they are not the brightest bulb in the box and, as I say, are under great stress.... At that moment they were navigating a legal system that is extremely complex almost by themselves. That does not make them expendable. It makes them unlucky.

As I understand bail it is meant as a surety that you will show up--it is not meant to be based on finances or meant to be punitive (he has not been found guilty of any crime). Zimmerman has done everything he can to show that he will show up when asked to do so.

If we want to open the perjury charge I can think of a certain prosecutor who out and out lied in the indictment. Lets look at the prosecutions witness Dee Dee who most assuredly gave several different versions of what happened that night and looks for all the world like she is trying to hide something. If we want to open up the door to who has acted improperly let talk about the president weighing in on a local case, unacceptable! Let talk about the black panthers putting a bounty on a citizens head and the justice department does NOTHING!!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen Zimmerman was a decent man trying to a decent thing (keep thieves out of his community by reporting them and their whereabouts to the police). He was attacked by a young man and was beaten to within an inch of his life when he defended himself. Those of yall that want to throw him under a bus for getting out of his car....well I hope I am never going along the river walk at 7 pm and get beat to death cause yall will surely throw me under the bus for getting out of my car and daring to walk where I have every right to be.

While I admire your support of Zimerman IF things happened as you state, there are things that you state for truth that are not 100% known. Did Martin really attack Zimmerman or did Zimmerman commit the first physical assault on Martin and Martin was just defending himself? We don't know cause we weren't there. And, while it really doesn't matter legally if he got out of his car, the whole thing is he should not have done it. Following someone on foot when you are not a cop is opening yourself up for an ambush by the person.

Personally, I think Zimmerman just put himself in a bad situation and ended up having to get himself out of that situation by shooting Martin. The media has him guilty. The prosecutors are bending to presusre from others and are throwing out what few scrupples they may have left to try and get a conviction, and they are going to drag him and his wife through the mud until they come up with something that they can hang him with. They guy stands no chance of getting a fair trial. IMO the only hope he has may be to get a mistrial and the prosecutors decide to not try to follow up.
