I'm waiting for the OSHA/MSHA Emergency Temporary Standards to hit.

My daughter and sil told me they are disappointed I have not grown a tail yet. They said they were planning on selling tickets to look at my tail.Killadocg23 wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 8:08 pmWell if I can do my part to help “slow” the spread I will. I’ve know a few folks who didn’t take this thing serious and are now either in an urn or 6 feet deep. Like I said those don’t want to wear a mask that’s fine with me do as your please but I will continue to wear mine out in public.03Lightningrocks wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 7:37 pmThe only problem with your philosophy is that it has already been shown that wearing a mask does not protect the wearer. At the Walmart here in Crosby they have mask required signs up but don’t enforce them and that’s fine.Majority of folks where theirs mask but there are a few anti maskers that don’t and that’s fine they should have that choice. I continue to wear my mask(I already had Covid and sure as hell don’t want it again).03Lightningrocks wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 4:09 pm The government over reach has already gone on for way to long. I have heard mixed reviews on immunity from having Covid. At least short term. I have had the first shot and am due for the second any day now. Hopefully the new variants aren't going to be an issue.
And you are right I have actually heard that if you had it before chances of catching it again is very slim or non existent basically.
And good stuff man. I am thinking on taking the vaccine soon too. I know a few folks that took it already and said they feel fine and still have all their fingers and toes![]()
I'm curious what benefit taking the vaccine does for someone who has already had a positive diagnosis. If you actually had it, you should already have antibodies. A vaccine is going to do the same thing for your system. I'm no doctor or microbiologist...perhaps someone can help me understand.Killadocg23 wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 8:08 pmWell if I can do my part to help “slow” the spread I will. The family that's in my small bubble and I have had both shots. I intend on still wearing my mask at least for while. Why? It's a matter of courtesy and respect. If it helps folks be more comfortable then, why not? Folks won't have to be as concerned if I let out a sneeze or small cough.Flightmare wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 11:15 pm

Personally, I don't have an issue with wearing a mask. I don't even have an issue with a private business requiring a mask to enter. That is their right as a small business. I have an issue with the government telling me I am required to wear a mask. Many folks tend to be confused about the difference. Reading some of the posts on social media, one would think the Governor had outlawed wearing masks. He merely removed the government from our personal business. Where they NEVER belonged to begin with.Liberty wrote: Wed Mar 03, 2021 8:16 amThe family that's in my small bubble and I have had both shots. I intend on still wearing my mask at least for while. I don't believe that my wearing pants makes the world any safer, but It makes people more comfortable when I do. So I wear pants and a shirt when I go out.
1. The antibodies produced from the vaccine can be 10x the antibodies that exist in a convalescent patient.Flightmare wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 11:15 pmI'm curious what benefit taking the vaccine does for someone who has already had a positive diagnosis. Great explanation. Thanks. I am worried about how long the vaccine is effective. I am hoping it is not a yearly thing. The virus is already mutating. It could mutate into something that beats the vaccine.RoyGBiv wrote: Wed Mar 03, 2021 8:45 am1. 2. The second dose of vaccine is intended to induce a greater T-cell response. This should (still being studied) give your immune system a longer "memory" should it encounter the virus again. Immunity from vaccination "should" last longer than immunity from having had COVID but no vaccination.
Again... Studies are ongoing.
From what I've read, the clinical trials patients still have antibodies. Study is ongoing to see for how long.03Lightningrocks wrote: Wed Mar 03, 2021 8:48 amGreat explanation. Thanks. I've got a running joke-fest going with my daughter, a healthcare worker (PT).03Lightningrocks wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 10:24 pmMy daughter and sil told me they are disappointed I have not grown a tail yet. They said they were planning on selling tickets to look at my tail.
I may be a little cynical, but I expect this to be a yearly vaccine to combat the current strain, much like the flu. I am not an expert in this, but the conflicting reports out of the various experts makes me think no one really knows what is going to happen. I know of a couple vaccines that have a limited effective length of immunity (think flu or tetanus) but most are permanent. I got a measles vaccination series as a child and have never had to take another one nor have I had the measles. If this isn't like the MMR series, I can accept that it is like the flu shots where you need a new one each year do to the variants found that year. Of course, from that I infer that COVID is much more like the flu than people first claimed and that there was a serious over-reaction to the disease.03Lightningrocks wrote: Wed Mar 03, 2021 8:48 am Great explanation.
