Sorry for the off topic question, so mrbug feel free to PM me. How do you like that XD Sub .45? I am really thinking about that, the Glock 30 or the Glock 19.
Thanks.
Mostly glocks

The instructor for my class was a SIG NUT!
He inspected eveyone's gun before we shot and would make snide remarks if it wasn't a SIG. I was using a S&W 4566 (.45) and he just looked at it and said, "I wouldn't trust my life with that."
My buddy was using a Kimber Pro Carry and he said, "Kimbers are overrated."
I remember there was a good mixture of models but I think Glock was the most popular.
A year or so later I got my first SIG and now I am a SIG NUT TOO!!

Quote/Question: "Excuse me for this, but are those using 1911s mainly of middle age or younger shooters ..."
As a whole, the 1911 shooters tend to be in fifties and above.
But, there are always exceptions. Back in the 90s' I had a guy (pilot, 20-year air force vet) who was a die-hard .45 guy. Reloaded for 'em, chronoed the difference between different primers, measured groups, saved targets, the whole OCD thing with 1911s.
Then one day after his first CHL renewal class, I had him shoot a box through my Glock 23 just to experince "the tupperware". A month or so later he had one of his own and said "I can't believe I waited so long to try one of these things. For what it is, the accuracy is amazing". Last time I saw him, he'd gotten away from reloading and was ordering .40 S&W rounds 1000 at a time over the internet ...

mostly Glock 9's which were rentals at the range, lot's of questionable technique there.. one guy shot a Taurus 9mm, but limp wristed it a lot.. A couple of Glock 40's..
I shot my nickel S&W M39.. vintage hottie that it is... I did well, two in the boiler room beats 17 all over the wall.

My class only had one 1911, and it was a younger guy, about my age (22-23 or so). Young kicker/redneck kinda guy... not some backwoods hillbilly, just a "country" looking guy, wearing one of those brown jackets Wrangler makes that all my cousins and uncles and my dad have... I'm getting off topic here. Anyways, the instructor asked each person in the beginning how many rounds they'd put through the guns they had with them today, most were 250-300, a few 500's, then he gets to me, "3000" and I got a couple of stares

then this 1911 fellow said something like 2500, he got the same stares. Damn gun nuts!

I used my 9mm baby desert eagle and to be honest it's one of the most accurate pistols I have shot with. My carry is the XD 9mm SC.

Are those numbers for the month or the entire life of the gun!? Most of the numbers are a shame either way!

Every variety, but 1911's may have been the most numerous. I shot my Colt Gold Cup (too pretty to shoot to often, bought her in about 1973).
I carry a Kel-Tec PF-9 in my pocket. I have shot it 100+ times, no malfunctions and keep it clean. Recoil is not a problem, but the trigger probably would break my pull gage (it only goes to 12 lbs LOL), so I am not terribly accurate with it. No way would I think about qualifying with it. But it sure fits my pocket well and conceals a lot easier than my 5" 1911.

While quite a few folks carry Kel-Tecs, funny that very few folks opt to test with 'em.

That's because it is necessary to actually HIT the target to pass the qualification test.
Not only that, but the P3AT is absolutely PAINFUL to shoot. I generally won't put more than 50 rounds through mine (if I even take it to the range).

that trigger pull is why I only owned one for a week and never shot a round thru it.
I now pocket carry a Bersa .380 to go with my XD-9 or my XD-.45.

I believe in my class of about 6 for new and 2 for renewals we had 3 1911's, 2 glocks, 1 ruger P89 I believe, and others were rentals.
