Absolutely positively plan to take these NRA classes--both of them--when Charles sets the dates:

• There is no better value for the money; the courses are inexpensive--Charles and Marc do them out of a desire to educate, not make a profit.

I've posted the NRA Personal Protection course schedule. Another PPOH Course is starting a week from this Friday, but it's full.

A good way to get some quality trigger time that allows you to build confidence in your gunhandling skills is to particpate in one of the Action Pistol competitions. At PSC, the PSC IDPA(International Defensive Pistol Association) club holds a monthly match on the fourth Saturday of the month. The October match is tomorrow morning.

If you come out to PSC at 8:30 AM with your gun, holster, at least 3 magazines (6 is better), eye and hearing potection and at least 120-150 rounds of ammo I promise you will have the most fun with your clothes on you have ever had AND learn just what you need to work on in your gun skills. You can come and just watch but it is much BETTER to just jump in and shoot. Don't worry about practicing or understanding the game, we love to help new shooters so they have as much fun as we do.

Sounds great! I'll keep track of all the events and try and make the next one before the end of the year i hope. My wife already noticed the change in hobbies but not completely. I've been carrying around the house like everyone said cocked but empty. The comfort zone is getting better but it will be a lot better after a class or two i'm sure.

doghouse, does your wife shoot? Would love to have another lady shooter especially another couple shooting IDPA.

She has not shot the XD yet. But she is interested in shooting for sure! I need to get her out some time to the range.

I share the same concerns. I am buying a glock as the 3 different built in safetys make me feel pretty safe.
