Oh what a glorious day! I Checked my online status this morning and it was issued/active. - I called DPS just to make sure.
Last monday (1/28), I asked the lady assigned to my file to please send some kind of request over to Travis county to inquire about my "investigative report" that had been there since December. That seemed to shake it loose, because the reply came back yesterday and she was able to activate me.
101 days total.

I thought we were racing? Good to see they finally got your CHL done. I feel lucky at 47 days door-to-door.

Congrats, if its like mine you should get the plastic no later than Friday. No telling what the problem is with Travis county. I love Austin but my wait and yours has got me thinking about moving to one of the surrounding counties so I don't have to go thru this again in 4 years. Good luck.

I guess there is nothing we can do to speed it up. My wife, my friend, and I all took the course on 12/2/07. We sent the applications on 12/3, the DPS acknowledged reciept of the apps on 12/4. According to the DPS website they are "processing aplication" and have been for over a month. My friend got a letter rejecting his photo due to glare on his glasses so he had to have that redone which he has.
In contrast, a friend in Arizona took his state course on Sunday 12/9 and had his license in 6 days arriving by mail. Arizona just used his driver's license photo which was on file. They did take his finger prints at the class and sent them in. He had a friend take the class with him and he got his CCW as they call it in one week too.
I don't know why Texas takes so long. I got a CHL in the '90's when they first became available which I let expire. The firs go around only took about 45 days. I hit 60 days this time on 2/4.
My timeline:
Class 12/2/07
DPS receives on 12/4/07
"Processing application about 1/15/08
Hit 60 days on 2/4/08.
I ain't getting any younger....

Rocketdog have you called DPS yet? I have been thinking about it. They got my paperwork on Dec 4 also. This wait is killing me!
