HARLAN, Iowa -- From his days of campaigning in Downstate Illinois, Sen. Barack Obama has been asked plenty of times about his views on gun ownership.
But the Illinois Democrat and presidential candidate added a new wrinkle Saturday night while campaigning in conservative-leaning western Iowa, when he said his Chicago-native wife, Michelle, recently commented that she could see why rural folks might want to own guns.

I suppose he would be wise to stop quoting his wife

Thank you sir. Very well put!

Yeah, he's really good at that!
Yeah, and I know I stink at it when I get slightly miffed with all of this...

Yanno...
This has been spun as a pro-gun stance by the Obama campaign. In truth, his wife said she can understand why rural folks want guns; while I didn't read the article carefully, I didn't see any suggestion that rural folks, or anyone else, should actually be able to have guns.
Politics is a tricky bidness. What's not said can be more important than what is said.

Apparently, Mrs. Obama has never had to call 911 in an urban setting.

Well, at least the woman admits a right to have a gun for self-defense. That's really amazing for a Democrat.
Not that I really care about Obama's position on the Second. If
Ron Paul doesn't get the Republican nomination, I'm going to vote for
Dave Barry.
I'd vote for MY wife!!

My wife told me about this and asked what I thought. As we were having the discussion (in our den) she looked around and asked "where is the .45?"
I had inadvertently left it in the bedroom. When I told her this she asked me what I would do if that front door came flying open right now...
'Tis good to kept on one's toes!

Ron Paul will not get the Republican nomination.
If you vote for Barry or any minor party candidate it is the same as if you voted for Hillary/Obama.
So I hope you're happy with that.
If either one gets elected (because a lot of gun owners cast protest votes) and comes after your guns, don't say I didn't warn y'all.

protest votes gave us Ann "Ma" Richards, and Bill Klinton. But, Americans do have a constitutional right to do (place your word here) things.
It's a shame it has come down to almost exclusively "party politics", regardless of the hold your nose and pull the (single) lever necessity sometimes. As always, the party in power controls the agenda, period, and a third party candidate is not likely to be in the "majority party".

It's all just a smokescreen to obscure his gun ban agenda.
He's just hoping that some gun owners who might not be paying close attention can be hoodwinked to vote for him.
In reality, he is probably one of the biggest gun grabbers in the Democrat Party.

Can you specify your pronoun?
