• Use a drop safe that is visible.
Dropping a safe on their head? I thought that only worked in the funnies.

Hey TxRancher, I know your not all here :???: :???: but your wife is Right :evil2: ,She told me that day at the range. I think we need to have a few more lessons on the tactical use of a gun as you are thinking to hard on the draw it should come naturally in these cases.

• Never try to apprehend a suspect yourself.
• Mentally note the assailant’s appearance without staring.
• After the confrontation, go to the phone and dial 9-1-1 as

• Robbers usually ‘case’ their target so look for people
loitering in a parking lot or acting nervous or ‘just not right’.
• Display height markers for identifying suspects.
• Keep small amounts of cash on hand if possible.

This looks like more of a cover yourself statement from the San Marcos Police dept. Heaven help us if someone tries to defend themselves and ends up getting hurt. The PD would then be liable for damages because they suggested in print that us lowly sheep do something aggressive.

Some commentary from one of the most reputable sources on the subject:
“Men who behave passively are 1.4 times more likely to end up seriously injured than men who have a gun. For women, passive behavior is even more dangerous, making them 2.5 times more likely to wind up seriously injured than if they resist with a gun. p.79
“Indeed, locking up guns reduces safety and, on net, results in a loss of lives. p.82
“Not only does the passage of a right-to-carry law have a substantial, statistically significant impact on multiple victim public shootings, but it is the only gun law that appears to have any real impact [in decreasing outcomes of multiple victim shootings]. p.136

Hey, I recognize these - I wrote these 20 years ago when I was the security director for a chain of retail outlets. I guess your Chiefy knows how to cut & paste!

ROBBERY PREVENTION / TIPS
• If confronted, try to stay calm.
I much prefer the "spittle-flying psychotically righteously indignant" approach. Done right, it can even make violent drunks back off, and at any rate, it's not what they're expecting, so it can buy you an opening.
• If a suspect says they have a weapon, do not force their bluff.
"That's not a knife, this is a knife."
• When facing someone wielding a weapon do not resist, cooperate.
When properly angled to the target, OTOH, draw to Weaver stance and fire a controlled pair to center mass. They're not anti-self-defense, they just don't care for isosceles.
• Never try to apprehend a suspect yourself.
Get lots of friends with ropes and cattle prods for that.
• Mentally note the assailant’s appearance without staring.
Depends on when you spot the problem; if you're staring while he's doing his initial recon, he may decide you're not such an easy target.
• After the confrontation, go to the phone and dial 9-1-1 as soon as possible.
Reload first; the phone will be occupying a hand for at least part of the call.
• Robbers usually ‘case’ their target so look for people loitering in a parking lot or acting nervous or ‘just not right’.
This is when overt observation is most effective. Binoculars, large flash SLR cameras, surveillance cameras, or Panaflexes with full lighting and sound crews may help, unless you're dealing with this guy.
• Display height markers for identifying suspects.
Make sure the camera can also see these; I've been in a few convenience stores that had them positioned where they couldn't be seen by the clerk or the camera, or the camera could only see them at such an angle as to make the measurement useless.
• Keep small amounts of cash on hand if possible.
A sock full of nickels works well.
• Use a drop safe that is visible.
Where can I get a an invisible safe?

ROBBERY PREVENTION / TIPS
• If confronted, try to stay calm. - That way the criminal will never see it coming.
• If a suspect says they have a weapon, do not force their
bluff. -Shoot them dead, er I mean until they stop.
• When facing someone wielding a weapon do not resist,
cooperate.
-cooperate with the investigators when they question you for shooting the criminal.
• Never try to apprehend a suspect yourself. It's easier to leave them laying in a pool of their own blood.
• Mentally note the assailant’s appearance without staring. - Son you got a panty on your head.
• After the confrontation, go to the phone and dial 9-1-1 as
soon as possible. Take your time if the criminal isn't dead yet. It saves tax payer money if the ambulance doesn't have to take him to the ER
• Robbers usually ‘case’ their target so look for people
loitering in a parking lot or acting nervous or ‘just not right’. Make sure you post your PRO Gun stickers where they can see them.
• Display height markers for identifying suspects. - It also helps to determine if your shotgun is of legal length.
• Keep small amounts of cash on hand if possible. - 2 quarters to put over the criminals eyes.
• Use a drop safe that is visible. - Once again, it is a place to put friendly reminders that guns are EVERYWHERE!!!!
