4H is not school sponsored, but 4H and FFA are the bulk of showers.

Sorry, but it is a school sponsored event, so no CHL.
Fort Worth Zoo uses the brand of logic, and I ain't buying it.

That's just too much of a stretch. Using that argument there are many, many places that could be considered "schools".
A school is a school. A county fair isn't a school, and the Stockshow is pretty much a really big county fair.
Chucky Cheese is generally full of school kids, but it isn't a school.

The Texas lawmakers were very clear on this issue when they enacted the laws, particularly the 2nd round addressing abuses by local governments.
We need to call these people on this, sooner rather than later.

I was never in FFA, but I do know that attending the show is part of class. You are graded on it as part of your project, sometimes I would talk to FFAers that would stay there for days. They would also be excused from other classes and it was excused to avoid problems from House Bill 72. (Is House Bill 72 still in effect? This was the Ross Perot miss only 5 days of class a semerster or you fail the class)

This, in my opinion, is not the same as a day trip to the zoo.

The Livestock Show is in only one part of the area.

I do believe that the 30.06 sign is not applicable and should be taken down. It is posted incorrectly and should be ignored.

I agree, and my wife encouraged me to do so.
But I don't have the deep pockets to defend myself if things were to go wrong.

While individual participants within the livestock show may be taking part in "school sponsored activity", the show itself is definitely not a "school sponsored activity".

Easy solution: stay out of FFA students' calf pens, and you're okay. The rest of the show gets a green light.

Well, all that sounds well and good, but it takes a major test test of willpower for me to knowingly carry past an otherwise legally posted 30.06 sign. I'm just not comfortable with that, even knowing it's an illegal sign.
