In the Army, we had to clean our weapons prior to turning them in. After having that drilled into me, I automatically clean whatever guns I fired upon returning home from the range. To me, that's just part of the range trip. I can't not do it; I wouldn't be able to sleep.

same here.... it would bug me to no end, like a puzzle sitting around finished but for the last piece. I would pull out my hair (and a lot of it too). The smell of CLP is like a sedative on me now.... :)

Thanks for sharing Charles and for giving such an honest and thorough account. I believe I'll be adding the barrel check to any gun I shoot from now on.

same here...it was drilled into our head from the initial issue of the M9 and the M16. So I am going to now clean mine after a good afternoon at the range today.

Of course, I'm not faulting someone who has more experience with firearms in his little finger than I have in my whole body, but my routine can serve as one more redundant check.
