SRVA,
Why is a 10 round mag for the 1911 not legal for IDPA? Is it the weight or will they not fit in the box?
One thing that I have found on the Wilson mags is IF they are the ones that have the PLASTIC pads, and IF you insert forcefully (like Sam and I do) then after awhile, they can "overinsert" and lock up the gun so the slide will not go into battery. Put metal basepads and the problem was solved.

In a full sized gun, they won't fit in the box.

I've never had a problem with Wilson 7 or 8 round mags. I'm uning them both in my Commander-sized Gold Cup (carry/IDPA piece) and my Kimber Custom Royale that I have set up for bullseye shooting.
There may be other brands out there that are just as good. I couldn't say as I've had my Wilsons for years and have had no need to buy any others.
So I'm not saying that they are "the best" or anything like that. Just that they are real good.
Nowadays, I'm looking for some extra mags for my new Para Carry 6.45 LDA. I tried a Wilson mag made for an Officer's Model, but it seems that the grip frame on the Para is shorter as the mag stuck out of the mag well.
I know I can get spare mags from Para. But I'm looking for a high quality stainless steel type with a plastic base pad like the Wilson's. Even better would be the kind where the base pad has that little projection out the front that serves to help keep the pinky finger in place.
Anybody got any ideas on that?

Metalform make the mag bodies for Ed Brown and others.
10-round carry
You put an 8-rounder in the gun and carry a 10-rounder (or several)
If you need more than 9 rounds (8+1) of .45 ACP in a carry gun you'll need to go to a double stack.
With a cover garment, I can wear my Para Ord P14-45 with a Dawson base pad that holds 18+1 in the gun.
When I shot USPSA / ISPC Limited-10, I used 1 Ed Brown and several Wilson magazines. I popped the tab off two of the Wilsons and Wilson replaced them. I paid shipping to them. They sent the free replacements back on their dime. The Ed Brown never failed.
Chip McCormick 10-rounders have a black plastic spacer around the bottom. The spacer keep the magazine from working with my Smith and Alexander mag-well. I had to trim off the excess.
