I would check to make sure there aren't mechanial issues like recoil spring and guide rod or something else not allowing slide to cycle completely,failure to lock open could be the slide isn't coming back far enough to engage slide stop,same for slide not going al the way into battery if slide is short cycling it won't have enough force to strip a round and close.make sure barrel link and pin are moving freely.then look at the mags

I've considered the possibility of it being a recoil spring issue. The pistol has a short guide rod, but the barrel and link are fine.

All of these jams occurred with 230 grain FMJ. I have found in the past that my carry load - 230 grain Hydra-Shoks - have enough zip to ensure cycling of the slide. However, in these past two range sessions where I had all of these jams, I did not fire any of the Hydra-Shoks.
