Well....in this case it was not a matter of the animal being "hurt", but the fact that he was basically defenseless at the age I found him. I consider it my moral responsibility to do all I can to ensure the little fella at least gets "a chance" to grow up.
I have no illusions about his "place" in the ecosystem. No doubt...he will end up in the food chain in one fashion or another eventually. Until then...I will do my best to help him grow strong and return to the wild where he belongs.
Such is life.

I was just reading through some of these posts and had to chuckle along the way reading about Earle! Good job Flintknapper and I would do the same for the little fella myself.....although an avid hunter. I will say, however, if Mrs. Flintknapper is anything like Mrs. T45......one more chair incident such as you described, and little Earle could find himself part of the food chain sooner than he planned!
Really great forum you folks have here and I'm glad I found it. Enjoy all the info available and the interesting/humorous things such as this. Keep us posted on Earle's development!

We tracked this one down for many days....before we found the perfect shot. One shot....one kill!

So whatever happened with Earle. Loved this post. I always see them out in my frontyard and I can never get them to come close no matter how many treats I put out there. For a few weeks there was always this one that would jump on top of my truck when I got home and he would just bark at me from 2 feet away for about a minute then leave.
