Since there is an almost total gun ban in Chicago how can the police be outgunned? That would mean that the gangs are breaking the laws and that would be criminal. I think the next step for Chicago is to have people like Jackson go through a metal detector each morning to prove they have no weapons and then they can wear a button all day that says "I am unarmed!" Then we would all know who was a danger and who wasn't.

Makes me wonder what kind of security detail Jesse takes with him when he goes out.

As a general rule, the cops get semi-auto too, but it is not necessarily that way. I am sure the SWAT team uses full auto.

If you read on you'll note the following (which I also quoted and responded to):

"Chicago police defended the plan to arm officers with semiautomatic assault rifles."

Granted, it might have been silly of me to take them at their word there.

That might have been just some tongue-in-cheek sarcasm on your part, but it sounds like you might have missed my point. That point being that the intended use of a semi-auto rifle in the hands of law enforcement is fundamentally no different from the intended use of any other firearm currently being used by law enforcement.

Someone needs to inform Jackson (I will not use reverend for self proclaimed reverend and proven hypocrit) that they cops typically only use rifles to kill someone when that someone has shown a tendency to do the same to the officer.... Ron White has it right, You cant fix stupid.

The real Colt M4 carbine is Selective fire, and has a 14.5 inch barrel...M4 is a military model designation.

Those of us with semi auto civy models from several different brand names, with a 16 inch barrel joking refer to them as "M4orgerys"

The Chicago Police Dept can buy the real M4(Colt #RO77), or the semi auto LE carbines (Colt #LE6920)
as they please leagally.

Anyone can buy one with a 14.5" barrel if there is a permanently attached flash hider.
