Why would people in Texas interested in the CFP for Utah? Are there any special privileges granted to a holder of the Utah CFP?
**I think I found it:
The Utah permit adds Washington, Ohio, Nevada, and Minnesota to the reciprocal states you have with your Texas CHL .
Also - cheaper renewal and no renewal classes.

I need to find a host location for the class, then pick a firm date so we can see how many folks are interested. Can someone in the Austin area help with the location?
Thanks,
Chas.

I am in DFW but I'd drive down to take the class. What does getting a UTAH CHL require?

I know you don't need a range, but I'll check with the Austin Rifle Club for you. They do have a CHL course out there quite often, and I don't know if feelings would be hurt if a Utah one was done as well as the Texas one. But I have no problem asking

There's no reason to make that drive. There is a Utah Instructor in Fort Worth. Here is their website:
www.crossfire-training.com .

Charles, Any chance of doing the "texas defensive laws" class here in Austin as well?

But that course isn't taught by the great Chas. You are the reason to make the drive.

I will check with my sources and see what can be arranged. There are a lot of classrooms available in Austin. It is an all day (8-5) on Saturday class, right?

4 hours and no range time.

I can get a room set up. I will let you know the exact location when I do.

Steve - I'm still talking with the Austin Rifle Club folks (I got bounced around because I asked the wrong person and phrased the question wrong) about using their location. Should I stop doing that? Are we all covered?

I'm interested. I live in Georgetown but am willing to drive as far south as Buda.

Kalrog,
Keep talking. If you get it first, we go with yours. I am checking on our classroom and one at ACC. Both are kind of touchy about the non-governmental use.
I have a room I can almost always get at the Drury Inn. They will usually give it to me free for a short time like that since I put all of our employees there for training (about 2000 nights a year). I just have to see if it is available on a date we want, which I will know on Monday.

Speaking of which, Charles, pick which Saturday and I will ensure the room at the Drury is available. The Drury is on IH-35 at US 290, just north of Downtown Austin. It will seat 20 to 25 people if we want it to. 25 can be a tight squeeze. Would 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. work for the hours?

That would be a good location for me... only a mile or so from my house. I much prefer that location to an ACC classroom, which would be off-limits to carry for us non-LEOs.
