I wish I had the time to see if any of the open carry crowd here are the same ones that post against vests or fanny packs.
Sure, either one presents the likelihood that the person is armed but also that that person may be better armed.
If you read my posts here two years ago, you will read how easy it is to carry a full size 1911. It still isn't uncomfortable, but I only do it in cooler weather. For a year, all I've carried is a 642 in a pocket holster.
I told a friend recently that I had bought a couple of fanny packs. Why? So I could go back to carrying a real gun!
At the movies Thursday, there was a fellow weighing probably 350 lbs, wearing shorts but wearing a vest over his shirt in 90 degree weather. I told my buddy that he was probably carrying a big gun if he was willing to wear the vest in that weather.
Most of the public is blissfully ignorant and a vest or fanny pack means nothing to them. It can be argued that the ones most likely to endanger us are more aware, but I bet a good many aren't.
I would rather have my 1911 or Hi-Power in a fanny pack with a couple of extra mags and still have room for my OC than to be limited to my 642 and a couple of speed strips.

i only wear pants so the shorts and vest thing wouldnt be happening with me
i have heavy shirts to wear over my gun but im looking for a cover i use all the time not one shirt one day and another the next and the shirts i have imprint a little yea i know nobody sees but it bugs me and it would be nice for work to put stuff in wrenches etc etc also the clothing i wear is not the same from one pair of pants to the next so the rest of my carry items may or may not fit in my pockets but having a vest that houses everything (mags flashlight knife etc etc) this takes that out of the picture
i havent made up my mind but im thinking i will give it a go i may find one thats some what plainer not so tactical

I actually find too many pockets distracting. Carrying something in a layered pocket where the entry for one may be from the rear and another layer from the top and another layer from the inside can make it to hard to find if you don't practice enough and use the same pocket everytime.
Better to use a simple pocket to keep something that may need to be accessed in a hurry.

the pockets in my pants differ that way with a vest it would be a constant
at least that was my thought
