I understand everything on the weapon except the keys. Perhaps someone could explain them to me.
You come up with a plausible purpose for the bird thing on top of the scope and I'll come up with something for the keys.
Since this is a futuristic gun, it has 3 separate key operated safety mechanisms to prevent unauthorized use by curious children, fools, and gun control proponents who just can't resist touching machinery they know nothing about using properly. Although there's often some overlap among these groups, 3 locks will be the basic minimum allowed under new regulations promulgated by Treasury Secretary Sarah Brady, who will head BATFE in the Obama administration, until the full ban can be enacted and enforced.
The fourth key starts the 5KW generator whose cable is plugged into the stock just out of view on the left side of the weapon to provide power to all those illumination and targeting devices.
